Busy birthday

The candles blew out OK but then continued to smoulder. So I pinched the wicks  between my fingers as I thought it would set off the smoke alarm. Also the cat was making a move to jump down from the cupboard top.

What am I doing, watching TV, eating a small slice of cake and drinking prosecco. We had Thai green curry with seabass for our evening meal. Now my hubby is sitting with a glass of wine in one hand and a bottle of lager in the other!

It’s been a funny day, went to bed late (4.30am) and got up late. I have been posting things about it on the book of face… Isn’t it funny, I would never have considered doing that in the past. What a thing social media is…

Well I might post few other things today…

Filling in forms

_20200612_204606

Grr, filled a form in online, we need your id information they said. I sent it off. Its not sufficient they said. I did it again. Then another letter, we have accepted your id but we haven’t had your online application?

Rang up. Oh you appear to have two accounts. They will need merging, ring back in three working days!?

I’m a little fed up. No I’m very fed up…. No I’m annoyed. I’m normally a patient person, but boy this has got my goat.

I am truly hopeful that this will get sorted out soon. I need it doing. Now.

Friends garden colours

Six years ago.

I took these in a friends garden because they were so colourful and interesting. I think some of the plants are Swiss chard, nasturtium, marigold, sweet peas and poppies. Most of the day the sun shone in it except later on when the sun webt behind the hill. Some lovely colour combinations.

Contours

I enjoy drawing contours, daft I know. It was very time consuming doing this and eventually I decided to stop and leave some white paper showing.

The nuclei of the pattern were coloured dots created from ink coming through the back of the previous page. My hubby thinks they look like electron shells for benzene? I think I understand where he’s coming from. I’m starting a course on illustration on Monday. Trying to calm last minute nerves with a little drawing meditation. Doing this creates flow, and I forget the time, day, the stresses of the world around me.

Memory, one year ago.

FB_IMG_1590227847122

I wanted to write a poem that rhymed more. A lot of what I write is in blank verse (a poem where words don’t rhyme). I tried to do something more flowing here. Don’t know if it worked.   (Could be a song?)

Different time

different place in space,

we’ve moved on,

you and I,

its a different sky.

My time is here,

your time has gone,

my life moves on,

you are almost forgotten.

Don’t force a smile,

you will be fine,

just let me go,

the stars say so.

Do say farewells,

and stay a friend,

but our sweet love,

must have an end.

Frustrated with email

I have my PC, it’s been upgraded to Windows 10. I have spent HOURS and HOURS trying to get my email to work on it.

It’s a good job my hairs grown. I’m ready to tear it out! I have got to get it done, and of course with covid 19 it’s hard to get hold of expertise to sort it out.

Why is it so hard? I want to sync my phone to my PC so I can simply read my email and access a website I need to use.

Look, I’m not that old, but I don’t understand windows 10, I only had it installed because I had to. I don’t want to have to learn exerything new each time I upgrade. Call me a stick in the mud, I AM!

70’s toys

sketch-1590322084643

Clackers.. Two balls on a string you waved up and down, with a little ring in the middle. They were meant to bounce off each other top and bottom. Many a broken finger….

Made of hard plastic, some luminous green, other colours too. I remember them being quite heavy. The cord holding them together was made of nylon. The string was tied round the ring at the halfway point. You moved your arm up and down fast, the balls would be sent flying and bounce at the top and bottom of their arc, making the characteristic ‘clacking’ noise. Hence the name.

As with other toys from the 70’s I doubt they would have been approved by health and safety now!

My friends book…

I don’t do reviews…

But (you know one was coming). I just sat down to read ” Swinging Sanity” a book of poetry by my friend N. F. Mirza, who I know as ‘stoneronarollercoaster’ at WordPress.

I’ve known her for a while and found out she was a writer and now a published poet. Her book is a small volume. But it’s full to bursting with poetry full of emotion. As she moves through life, using it to discover her mental health and wellbeing.

The poems are forceful, I’m no poetry critic, but I found them easy to read. Some of them touched raw nerves, and you can see her heart torn open in many of them. I particularly liked Ocean and I become one.

In happier times

I haven’t been to my studio for months , I’m keeping away from people as much as I can. That said, it was lovely to come across this photo. I was at tge studio at Spode. It must have been cold because I was wearing a hat. I don’t know where the jumper went to…..

It is clear I was happy in the photo, something had made me chuckle. Someday things will get better. Some of the paintings have been sold, but I can’t do craft fairs or exhibitions at the moment so I haven’t been replacing them. Maybe I will have a go again soon. I have got a course that I’m taking which starts in June. Hopefully that will get me going again.
