Welsh views

A year ago, driving down towards Snowdonia. I like the way the Layout app has joined some of the mountains up. Reminds me of the phrase ‘and the road goes ever on’ from The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkein.

The thought of not being able to go there for the moment is very disappointing. We were going for a short break but there has been another lockdown. I really want to see family and friends, but everything is messed up. We are expecting new rules for this part of England on Monday. As the nights draw in I think people will feel more and more isolated. Oh well…….

No mojo

My mojos gone out, I feel down, I feel demotivated. I think it’s living at this moment. I want to just wrap myself up in a ball, put my head under the duvet, hide.

Feeling myself gently rocking for comfort. Hunched shoulders, unable to start things or respond. I put on a brave face, but it’s hard work. It hasn’t helped being ill for the last few weeks. I think I’ve had tonsillitis and I’ve got an achy shoulder, and toothache and they are all impacting on me. Plus it’s getting darker in the evenings and I’ve not done much walking or going out, nerves about the increase in covid19 I guess. We are looking at more local lockdowns? In the meantime the world seems to be ruled by buffoons, orange, blond and barking mad! Is it any wonder I feel off?

More flowers

Well since all my photos are in my October file it does mean I can find ones that I took last year and I’m also putting them together in blocks so that I might be able to delete some of the individual ones.

I think these were taken out at the Dorothy Clive Garden in Staffordshire (?) , England, last year. Either it was a showery day, or partly overcast because some have shadows and some not. But they were all grouped together which is why I think they were taken around the same time. Other than that they are random and mostly on the hotter side of the spectrum. A lot of them are daisy types, but I’m in love with the poppy too.

No recognition.

Its aa little thing, but my painting of the Burslem Riot is on the back of a friends book. She’s in the newspaper today and you can clearly see my image on the back of her book. The problem is the article is about the local dialect which she writes about, not about my painting. So I guess I can’t complain. But my images do crop up and I don’t get recognition. I should have put something up where they are on display (in the now closed Leopard Hotel in Burslem), but I didn’t think about it, and then I didn’t organise it, and now it’s all locked up. Thinking if putting a letter through the front door infroducing myself as the artist who painted them. I hope they don’t get ripped out!

Two thousand October photos

Oh no! I decided to optimise my photos and save some space on my phone because it’s getting full and it would reduce each image by about ninety percent.

Great, plus they will take up less space here…

He problem now is that they are all out of order and the majority of them appear to have been taken on 9 October 2020!

Oh no! Trying to search for one particular photo is now a pain! At least before I could choose a month to go to…..

Might have to delete old photos…. But I like them…

Remembering the BCB

The BCB, British Ceramic Biannual, was on in the Spode China Halls last year. Fine China and art pottery cheek by jowl. I do hope it happens again next year. Bringing art into Stoke-upon-Trent and the rest of the city of Stoke-on-Trent and spreading creativity that sadly seems to have been forgotten by government during this pandemic.

Art has just as much a right as any other industry to continue in this world. Creativity and the power of the mind are linked. Science can go hand in hand with art. What we need to do is try and support everyone, not be selective towards the richest and devil take the hind most.

Forgot

While the salmon and courgette with pasta sauce was cooking on the stove the mushrooms with garlic remained still and solid? It was only after ten minutes of stirring them with chopped garlic and olive oil that I realised that the gas hadn’t lit, even though I’d switched it on! Luckily it didn’t take too long to heat them through once I did ignite the gas.

I also added some tiny pasta flower shapes into the sauce to thicken it slightly. It ended up very tasty with the pasta being slightly aldente. It was good to have the mushrooms seperate. I would normally have just thrown them into one pan, but I wanted to seperate the textures and tastes. It was a good meal when I finally switched on the gas ring!

Oops!

Remind me not to optimise my photos when my antivirus advises me to! My phone is crammed with pictures, like the one above. But they are all over the place now. They were sort of in date order now anything from last year is stuck together in the file for October 2020. Yes I’ve saved a lot of space, but the recent things I was working on have gone walkabout! Grr

I’m going to have to try and find them again, I’ve got a commission to do and I need those photos! Plus I’ve optimise them, which means they are a lot smaller. And I’ve deleted the originals… But when you have THOUSANDS of photos what can you do?

Grr…

Cold chills

Something cold

Something blue

Strong winds

Cold showers

Gale force time

Leaves off the trees

Strewn on the ground

Kicking them round.

Run through the mounds

Of yellow and gold

Reds and russets

Spiralling down.

Crisp and clear

Frost on the way,

Sparkling blue skies

Or raining all day.

Overcast with clouds

Grey and misty

Fungi are found

Surrounded by mystery.

Soon will be winter

End of bright colour

Till spring

Comes again

In showers and bluster.
