New paintings and regular art updates.
This is another group collage that the Orme Art Group did during lock-down. We each did a part of this Picasso painting and then submitted them to one of the group to stitch them together. I can’t remember which bit was mine. It’s interesting because although we were copying from the original you can see different techniques for each artist and also different colours and tones. I really enjoyed doing these collaborations.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was dark. I decided to use digital apps for my piece today, artrage oils, sketch app and photodirector in that order. It was fun to create this ‘dark’ horse. Lol, it looks rather strange with added textures and plant silhouettesbut it was fun. X
Draw round anything with a thin pen and you get an interesting effect. It’s something I do occasionally as a meditation. Trying to keep a little distance from coloured splodges or around lines that I have already drawn or doodled. Somehow the lines remind me of the contours on a map, because they seem to join things together. Mostly I look at the back of my pictures and see if the ink has bled through it. I’ve written about this technique here before. It’s a way of creating something a little more abstract.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was South America, I was looking for something unusual and found out that Passion Flowers are native plants of South America. I have to say I’m amazed how complex they are. This is a twenty minute sketch.
Drawing of Etruria Industrial Museum chimney from late last winter. Soon the leaves will be gone again. The museum will hunker down in the rain or possible snow. The industrial archaeology is more visible when the surrounding trees are stripped bare. Life is a cycle, one day its bitterly cold, the next warm and comfortable. I hope to visit the museum again soon. Its run by volunteers who work hard to keep it going.
My eyes flood with tidal waves of tears.
Storm clouds have darkened my brows.
Salt tears course down my cheeks.
Time has flown, she is gone.

Written and drawn at 4am. Things just got to me again and it seemed a good way of expressing myself.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was current. Oh dear! I struggled to think of anything that fitted the prompt so I went for something silly and a play on words. Current and Currant, homophones
I’m tired and not feeling much like doing anything, scratchy sore throat and a bit blocked up nose and ears. I decided to doodle a face. Why is it when I draw profiles they normally face left? Previous discussions with other artists raised the idea you can see where to draw easier if you draw the outline first then move back towards the eyes and mouth and ears. This is a finger drawing in ArtRage oils. I need to experiment more with it. I also need to find my stylus.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was flash. I doodled these last night but I think they fit in with the prompt ‘flash’. These are quite flashy. Drawings of vase designs. Felt pen drawing and fine ink liner pen. Not well today so doing this yesterday made life easier.
Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was Sugar. I could have drawn granulated sugar, but I chose to draw liquorice allsorts. They were my favourite sweets. I would peel them apart, eat the sweet stuff first then finish it with the liquorice afterwards. Felt pen drawing and black fine ink liner pen.
