Sixty four pages (32 images, 32 text) later. More glue and parcel tape than I can cope with. The parcel tape is white and has fragile written on it in big red letters.
I started by taping 32 a6 cards together with parcel tape, then gluing down an image and plain paper alternating with each other. My measurements were a bit off so some prints overlapped each other. The result works but is messy. I wrote on the blank sheets vaguely telling a story but it needs doing properly.
Tool of my trade…. But its stopped working! The light has gone out. I tried changing USB ports but then the computer said the port is not recognised? WTF… Sorry to swear, but I was in the middle of creating a Dragon Zine. I’d cropped all my photos, all I have to do is click and drag them into place… I can use my stylus from my tablet, but when I tried to click with it, it just drew lines? Argh! Will anything go right? I want to print off batches of four photos then cut them to size nd glue them down. The idea was if I did them inA6 I could fit four to an A4 page and save paper…. Grrr!
Looking back at my sketchbook I found this from February this year. I think I was going put more then. Going for walks and not exactly seeing people but socialising more.
Then I pulled a calf muscle and it really knocked me back. I am seeing a lot less people and turning into a recluse. My walking consists of going to the shops a couple of times a day. This weekend I actually went to my art group meeting. I was trying to finish a dog painting and I used it as an excuse to get out the house and do some art. I think that has helped me break out a bit. My mojo needs to be released again!
I tried to think of something golden to draw. I could have drawn a ring but decided on do a different object. This is based on a teapot I saw at the British Ceramic Biennial this year. I’ve emphasised the gold colour a bit. I’m not sure what type of ceramic it was made out of but I think the handle was metal. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt. Golden.
Just drawing in these colours gives me memories of sunny days at the seaside. If the colours were greys and turq, with some white added I would think of wild stormy days.
I remember a seaside holiday in the summer that was very grey and wet. The rain started as we arrived and took a taxi from the station to the chalet we were staying in. I was about eleven and I remember staring out of single glazed windows down a steep hill. I can’t remember a beach? I do remember mom having to put coins in a box on the back of a TV so we could watch it.w
Eventually the weather cleared up m I remember a harbour with lots of sailing boats. I think we went mackerel fishing but all my family got seasick except for me. The fishing lines kept catching fish and I pulled them in. When we got back the fisherman tried to give mom all the old fish but she insisted we got the ones I had caught. I don’t know what happened to them.
I also remember a hovercraft trip on a very choppy sea and eating egg and chips in a rough cafe. Funny what comes back when you see an image..
Hidden in the store cupboard, spicy treasures sometimes lose their flavour if they are left too long..
Forgotten hidden treasures.
Todays #bandofsketchers prompt was spices. I used bits of post-it notes for the labels then used black ink fine liner, grey fine liner and a black calligraphy pen to do the shading. I didnt have my mobile phone camera with me so I scanned the image onto the computer- of course it was a PDF, so I had to mess about saving it as a .jpeg so the image would look OK. Funny how you have to learn different skills without realising it sometimes.
Messing about with plastic dots glued down, then worked on it in layout app (a mirroring app) and then photodirector to change the texture and twist the perspective. Back to layout to mirror the result. Different colours and patterns seemed to create a horned dragon at the centre. I can see his nose and eyes, although part of his face appears hidden…. Having fun…
A tree I drew for someone a few years ago that she wanted for her business cards. I wish this wasn’t so blurred but I only got a chance to take a quick photo of the finished printed card and I can’t find the computer file it was saved on.
It was a commission for her and she was really pleased with the result. Its funny how you find images that suddenly spark memories. The rainbow type colouration in the background was hard to get right. I think I used a digital spray can to get the softness…
