Short walk with bluebells…

Finally had a short walk today! We went to Cherished Chimneys which is a shop that sells chimneys and pottery at Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. and the Waiting Room gallery across the road in the same place. Then we walked round Westport lake, which is just half a mile away along the canal. We saw blossom and bluebells along the canal and round the lake. We avoided heavy clouds as we walked. I think it had rained heavily in Stoke as the path was soaking wet when we got home.

Abstract?

A pattern of splodges and marks in ink and paint. What can I turn it into if I draw over it? I’m not sure, it might be a series of faces, eyes, animal heads. People dancing. Whatever is there I will try and find it.

There is a friend of mine on Facebook who creates art from patterns like ghus. She calls it Shibui Found Art. She creates wonderful pictures, maybe I can try and do something with this.

Three minute cat

Cat I drew at the start of march. I used an ink roller that you can blot out addresses with. I would have done more of these but the cat decided to play with the roller and I think it’s been knocked under a cupboard. I will have to try and find it. Sometimes the simplest experiments work well.

I noticed the letters on the roller are Greek, I don’t know why? If you tip it on one side you can achieve thin lines and also get some curves.

Flats

I used off cuts from my sketchpad to create windows for this picture. The orange lights are from post it notes and the green is another lot of post-it’s that I folded and glued to give a feeling of branches. The black was achieved with an ink roller that can be used to blank out addresses on letters when you want to dispose of them.

Gone to a good home

My friend is happy x

Just delivered this to my friend. She is really happy with the necklace I made. The others have gone to the Waiting Room gallery in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. They are having an open day on Saturday along with Cherished Chimneys across the road from there. I like the way it lies flat, the wire weaving looks really neat and the colours look good together.

Upright

Upright bottle oven somewhere near the canal in Burslem, from a photo I took on a walk with the closer to home group on Saturday. I didn’t have time to stop and read the sign about it as I was at the back of the group. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt. Metallic silver pen, metallic colours, dried up black felt pens, black felt pen, charcoal stick.
