Many moons ago

In a time when photos

were printed on paper,

and swords

were made of cardboard

and silver foil.

Hooped earrings were in fashion,

And bangles jingled.

I wore an eyepatch on my glasses

and pretended to be

Long John Silver,

or Captain Hook,

Red beard

or some other rapskallion…

Oh what fun!

To be young again,

and silly…

Happy cat

They seek him here, they seek him there… And then I found him on top of the kitchen cupboard. Or on the microwave, sometimes on the laundry pile. Often asleep on my chest, keeping me in pinned down!

Snoozing for hours on end, keeping his nose under his paw. What a character. So sweet.

He’s not been well, he as got to have an ultrasound. I want him to get better, I really want him to have a long, good life. He has a heart murmur. Grade 4. The worst is grade 5. What can I do, his life may be shirt, but he is and will be loved.

The moon tonight

Two images taken with the phone on my camera tonight. I took both on the manual setting on the camera as the auto choice was over exposing it. I altered the exposure so that the sky appears darker and the moon is more defined. I didn’t know how to do it. I just clicked on the tools and messed about with it. (This was the last time I took a photo of the moon and I haven’t altered the settings since).

I also had to zoom in x 5 to get a big enough image to see the moon. Then I cropped it to enlarge it. In all of that I was expecting some camera shake but its not too bad. I leant my elbow on a large glass jar on the kitchen cupboard to try and make my image steadier and I also held my breath.

I saw a face

I saw a face,

I blocked out some of the photo, and added some lines to the result in a sympathetic green colour. The blue mecanopsis flowers form stunning eyes, the concave petals give it depth. The dark purple makes the mouth and upper lips. It’s a almost insect like, perhaps like the head of a dragonfly? I can see antennae on it. It’s something I enjoy doing, playing with images.

My odd collections

DSC_2732

Recently I’ve acquired a lot of hats, which is odd really because I’m not a ‘hat’ person. I get them if it’s a sunny day and I need shade. Then I forget about them. I now have one on the back seat of my car.

There are so many hats for so many uses. We have a climbing or caving hat. My hubby has two flat cats, a trilby and I bought him a deerstalker for winter (keeps his ears warm). I have a couple of trilby’s someone was getting rid of. I decided to take them. Then two straw hats, and a blue crotched one with a wire to stiffen the brim. The trouble with the ones with wire in is that it can get bent. In one case the wire snapped and the brim of it became very floppy. I ended up throwing it away. I’ve never had a baseball cap and never want to.

Sisters photo of poppies.

I saw these today on my sisters timeline. FB_IMG_1592521493915

I love Himilayan poppies. I’ve tried to grow them on many occasions. One year I bought a plant and for a glorious few days it flowered, but that was it, it withered and died. Too much water? Too little? Too shady? I should have read the instructions. Mecanopsis. Beautiful.

The delicate blues like washed sky after a rainstorm, edged with the shade as the sky starts to darken at nightfall….

Reflected

Looking in and looking out, mirrored sky shining. The window frames flaking and peeling. Put through a mirroring filter and you find a floating tower. Could it be magic. What is art? Why is a photo? Can an image be trickery in a friendly way? Must it be cryptic.

See the world through an ant or a bees eye. See the world through the eye of a whale or a satellite.

Our vision is an average humans vision. At a cartain height, with colour vision like primates have. We don’t have slits in our pupils, or black and white vision. We don’t use echo location.

Photos are interesting to play with.

Anyone seen a dalek?

IMG_20130101_000120

A couple of years ago we saw a Dalek on a station (I think it was Froghall) in the Staffordshire moorlands. Memory fades, but I know I had a short video of it perambulating backwards and forwards along the platform. I remember looking for who was running it. The original ones on TV in the sci-fi series Doctor Who, were moved by people inside the Daleks, pedalling them along.

This one was being moved by a remote control I think. I saw a man with a radio controller in his hand. Later we went to look at a model Tardis in the station itself. Tardis stands for Time and relative dimensions in space. Anyone who is a Doctor Who fan would know that.

It’s not often that you bump into an iconic 1960’s TV character in real life.
