Reflected

Looking in and looking out, mirrored sky shining. The window frames flaking and peeling. Put through a mirroring filter and you find a floating tower. Could it be magic. What is art? Why is a photo? Can an image be trickery in a friendly way? Must it be cryptic.

See the world through an ant or a bees eye. See the world through the eye of a whale or a satellite.

Our vision is an average humans vision. At a cartain height, with colour vision like primates have. We don’t have slits in our pupils, or black and white vision. We don’t use echo location.

Photos are interesting to play with.

Anyone seen a dalek?

IMG_20130101_000120

A couple of years ago we saw a Dalek on a station (I think it was Froghall) in the Staffordshire moorlands. Memory fades, but I know I had a short video of it perambulating backwards and forwards along the platform. I remember looking for who was running it. The original ones on TV in the sci-fi series Doctor Who, were moved by people inside the Daleks, pedalling them along.

This one was being moved by a remote control I think. I saw a man with a radio controller in his hand. Later we went to look at a model Tardis in the station itself. Tardis stands for Time and relative dimensions in space. Anyone who is a Doctor Who fan would know that.

It’s not often that you bump into an iconic 1960’s TV character in real life.

Orchid reflection.

The bright reflection of my orchid plant in a glass covered picture my friend gave me. It’s a close up and it stands out because of the darkness of the surrounding area.. The pink, blue and green stands out bright and clear. I wish my phone camera could reproduce images more clearly when you zoom in. But it was worth taking the photo.

Swiss chard

When I posted about my friends garden I forgot to add this photo. Its my favourite picture, the red and green really zings.

I imagine it was very tasty, although I’ve never actually had any.

It just speaks of sunshine and good health. It’s amazing how coloured leaves can be just as intense as flowers. I’ve cropped the edges to accentuate the colours.

Sun pillar?

We visited Devon about ten years ago and stopped in a caravan site near the sea. We walked down to the sea at sunset on the first day as there was a glorious sunset. Then as we got near the beach and were walking through tall grasses along the path to the beach, I saw this. I was stunned. I knew it was something to do with the sun, that had set. But I had my camera, so I took this photo. I think it’s called a sun pillar. I’ve seen sun dogs since. They are bright spots some way from the sun on either side. And brocken spectre, where your shadow is cast onto cloud by sunlight being you and it creates a sort of glowing rainbow halo. There are many other effects caused by the sun and light from it.

The world is a fascinating place.

Blue

_20200530_151227

Today’s challenge in a friends Facebook group was to post a picture of yourself with the colour blue. I can’t find my facepaints so I put on a hat, picked up a magazine and stood in our bathroom with its blue painted walls.

I guess I could filter it and change it to intensify the blue.

Meanwhile I’m thinking of how to depict purple, which is tomorrows challenge. The idea is to collect a whole rainbow of colours and then the admin of the group will create an artwork. Interesting…
