A face

Making up faces, good practice if you don’t have anyone to draw. You can work out eye shapes and sizes, how would a long or short nose look? Big or small mouth thin or thick lips? Are the ears visible? How long or wide is the face, what shaped chin.

Drawing is a skill, practice does help. 10,000 hours is meant to make you an expert. Millimeters can change things, hair, makeup, colour, looking in different directions. Up down, sideways, three quarter view.

Please keep working, practicing, enjoy it.

Stare

Cats stare, they hardly blink, a slow closure of their eyes sometimes, or eyes tight shut, but you know they have half an eye checking out whats going on.

Ears pricked, listening for the rustle of a packet of food, the rip as you open it. They know the sound of a tin opening and releasing the smell of food.

Nose twitches, whiskers flex, mouth ready. Time for tea. And they move quickly when they tune into the signals you send them.

Spooky lights

I saw this at tonight’s performance and it made me chuckle. The way the lights are set up looks like eyes and a mouth. The shadow above like a set of long wolf like ears! The pinkness is really dramatic.

I have always seen faces and patterns in everyday shapes. Like paintings of flowers that look like lions to me, or the spindly abstract pattern of tree branches turning into a galloping horse. It’s a phenomenon called Pareidolia.

This could also be a riotous robot, a frankenstein style monster, or a dancing ghost, see what I mean?

Sore throat

I don’t think it’s serious. I just have a sore throat, but I haven’t gone out today despite needing shopping and the chance of some entertainment. I just feel a bit hot and tired, but that could be age related (yay hot flushes, not) and it is humid. I went to bed this afternoon and tried to sleep but then hubby decided he wanted a conversation…. Out came grouchy me… Leave me alone me… But now I’m more awake but might go to bed early…

Old digital doodle

Faces, I love them, portraits, doodles, there’s something that makes me draw them. Trying to get features right. I’ve always drawn eyes as well. I try to get them right, but I have a default eye or face, the way as I sketch I try and it from memory. Things like the size of the eyes. The eyelids, the shape of lips. The size and shape of eyebrows. Hairline. I find hair the most difficult. I need more practice, even after sixty years!

Eek!

I was just watching a film when something (I think it was a spider) walked across the neck of my jumper right under my chin. Eek. I jumped up from my chair! I usually like spiders, but not ones that are only an inch from my mouth! I pulled my jumper off and threw it across the room….. I couldn’t see the spider and I hope it didn’t get squashed! You can tell how jumpy its made me because of all the exclamation marks I’ve used. Eek!

It might have been a ladybird, trying to remember it’s shape and calming down now…. The cat had been sitting on my lap and he got dumped on the floor because of me jumping….
