New paintings and regular art updates.

Waiting fot the green to grow
Looking for the water flow
Abstract colours
Leafy feeling
Are your colours
At all appealing?
Glossy green,
And deep blue
Lots of subtle colour
Hue.

Daffs, Narcissi, Daffodils, Daffydowndillys…. Names old and new. The world has so many names for these spring flowers. Some sound almost musical, very flowery. The shapes frilled and fluted. Daffodils tend to be larger, with a conical centre, the narrowed part towards the stem. Then a splay of petals surrounding the centre. The Narcissi such as tet-a-tet are small and sit in clusters on top their stems. All glorious colours from pale cream, to zingy lemons and bright oranges. I’ve filtered the shapes but only lightly.

Run to me
Race across the fields
Rush like the wind
Raise dust with your hooves.
Gallop fast
Gather your strength
Give your heart to the world
Gentle and strong.
Fly like a bird
Full of excitement
From steepest of mountains
Farthest shores.
Horse, men call you
Held in esteem
Highest quality of beauty
Happy to see you.

A funny little painting of a yellow glass bowl with blue feet shaped like ammonites or snail shells. I loved the bowl and was really upset when it got broken. I created this picture so I would have a memory of it. Some people collect things, others hate clutter. I’m on the collecting side. Mostly because it helps when creating art. If I want to paint a little rabbit skull I have one I found on a walk, or I have ammonites found on the beach. Glass ware and ceramics. I don’t think anything is worth much money, but I do like collecting objects (and dust!)

I used to draw a lot in an app called sketcherfree but I haven’t used it for a while. Perhaps it is time to find it again. Using different styles frees up my mind!

Just because
I combined
These pictures,
A little owl appeared
To cheer my day.
I hope he
Cheers yours
Too!

Digital manipulation of paving blocks. The colours are from water and green algae on the blocks. The perspective of them means that because I have mirrored them both side to side and up and down there appears to be a bulge in the centre of the picture. I again used the Layout app that comes with Instagram to do the mirroring.

Just been up to the Waiting room gallery in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. They have hung my tryptich of Jupiter and it is for sale if anyone wants to contact me about it. I’ve said I would sell canvases individually but I think it’s better if it was sold as all three canvases. The image is based on a photo of Jupiter’s surface including part of one if its poles. I’m not sure which? Taken by the Juno mission a few years ago. Acrylic on canvas. It’s hung horizontally but it could be hung vertically or even diagonally. Is there an up and down in zero gravity? Just imagine being there, what a fantastic sight it would be!
