New paintings and regular art updates.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was plants. Sorry chums. I didn’t feel up to drawing much today so done a sort of abstract plant, might do something to it later.

One of the patterns I created for my final major project. It was to introduce the idea of abstract art to children within a story book. Each page in black and white tells the story. The opposite page is based on patterns in the environment or the scale patterns of dragon scales. Colours in juxtaposition to strong black and white figurative drawings. If you follow my blog you will know about the book I’m thinking of publishing. I know I’m going on about it but I feel passionate about it.

I have these on a windowledge (not in the sun) upstairs. I started collecting paperweights about forty years ago when I was given the red one on the left of the photo as a Christmas present. I’ve bought one or more every couple of years as treats, not very frequently but regularly. These are some of them but I probably have four times this many (or more). I do like looking at them. They cheer me up!

Part of a coffee pot that just has foreign stamped on the base. It has raised decoration of a dragon on it. I am not sure how old it is and whether it is Chinese or Japanese. Its a delicate design and it arrived wrapped in bubble wrap and it has gone back to its home the same way. I guess some of the design is airbrushed on, but that might mean it is more modern than I think it is. It would be interestingvto find out.

Rip a bit of paper up, mirror it a few times. See what happens. That’s it. Just a combination of colours and contrasting shadows that appear to make the bits float above a purple speckled cushion. Switch the bits around and it makes an interesting pattern.

Playing with Artrage oils app. It’s a finger painting. I must find my stylus as I think that might help. I like the combination of blue/ red/green and purple. You can set different brushes, dry and wet, different flows ans also make the ‘paint’ more or less metallic. The less metallic settings allows a lighter colour. Try it for free. Have fun x

You may not see as many blogs, but I’m still here, lurking! I’ve got a college project that I need to finish and other work to get done. Other things are also going on so life is a little stressful at the moment. I just had to get work done on my car too. Its a good car, but spare parts are hard to come by now because it’s so old. They just don’t make some of the parts anymore. But I will watch your posts and see what is happening. I’m still here!

I did this drawing four years ago, it just popped up on my Facebook memories. I can’t remember what app I used. I think I deleted it off my phone because it took up too much memory. I must have been thinking of pigeons or parrots? Anyway it was fun to draw.

Ink bleeds through paper and shows up on the back of the page. I usually try and use pens that don’t do this, but sometimes you can see something, and create something new. I used to draw round different areas of colours in the past and I’ve done something similar here. Two cats…

Close up photo of a metal ring holder and a copper coloured stapler. It’s interesting what you can do with duplicated photos. I didn’t know it was going to look like this. It looks like architecture or a space ship with a distant galaxy reflected on the shining floor of the ship. I will play with some more images, juxtaposing different shapes, textures, and colours.
