Inside nasturtium plant.

Hubby decided to put a Nasturtium seed in the pot of our Money plant upstairs, (it has round, coin like leaves). It grew, thin and etiolated (tall and thin, reaching for the light). It’s still there this November. It never flowered but maybe I will plant another one next year? I don’t think it will last through the winter, I think Nasturtiums are annual plants, only growing for one year. But it’s an interesting experiment. It would be good if it flowered and trailed down from the upstairs side window. Meanwhile the Money plant needs watering, it’s top heavy and has started pulling over to one side. I do like indoor plants. We have lots of Christmas cactuses. They need watering to get them to flower soon…

Colours

Artrage oils sketch. Using orange, yellow, green and purple to make it pop. Because the colours smudge when you overlap them, it’s hard not to mix them up. Eventually I ended up with this abstract pattern.

Finally I mirrored the image in layout app to create a symmetrical pattern. The colour pallette has a slider for metallic and non metallic versions.

I see lots of shapes in it that could be faces or a cat or other animals or even bodies? Pareidolia again (seeing faces in things)

Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was busy. I’m busy doing pattern designs for college and this is turning out quite ‘busy’ (complicated, convoluted, patterned) so I think it counts…felt pens then edited through Instagram to bring out the contrast.

I try and write a limerick for Esther Chiltons blog on a Monday. Someone puts a prompt word up and people respond.

I usually forget to copy my limerick for myself but I did today. Its a bit clumsy, the lines are quite long, but it does have the structure of a limerick. That is the first two lines have the last word rhyming, the next two lines rhyme with each other and then the final fifth line rhymes with the first two.

Here it is, the prompt word was ‘lark’ which can appear anywhere in the limerick, not necessarily at the end of a line.

I’m very rarely up with the lark
Early attendance I get a black mark
Just goes to show staying up late
Does not myself an early bird make
I get up so late, its already gone dark!

Finally the temperature is plummeting. Warm days this November are fading as the Jet Stream of wind changes position and cold air tumbles down from the Arctic. Some parts of Britain might see wintery showers soon. Then my garden plants will be hit by the chill. In the meantime I can only think of the glorious plants that bloomed in the spring and summer and the seasons ahead of us. Looking forward to the future again.

Oil painting on board of a friend I painted while I was at college. The Mr X refers to his name when he was in a band. I glued the poster to the painting and added an image of one of his pictures in the background behind him. I think I did the painting from life but I don’t really remember, it was painted about 40 years ago x

I was playing about with lines then added the grey infill. What does this remind me of? Tyre tracks! So I can’t say much more than that. I may have some more I can do with this. Or not. It’s only a sketch but it was fun to do. Convoluted complications. X

Digital finger painting.

Done late last night, I was in a doodling mood. I completely covered another drawing I had saved but wasn’t very pleased with. Its interesting to do this because by saving changes I’m not adding a new file and I hope it means I am saving some phone memory. Yes I draw on my phone, so the tiny screen makes it hard to add details.

I think my pigeon has a bit of sass, he’s cheeky and he’s just taking off to make mischief somewhere….
