Amaryllis and Roses

On the windowsill a pale white/pink Amaryllis about to burst into flower and a minature rose, salmon pink and lovely. A present from my hubby for Christmas. They are looking lovely this JANUARY 2022!

Now 2021 is gone, its done. It will never come again. I hope 2022 is better, we see sense about the climate, we do everything we can to stop the spread of Covid. That we start caring for each other and make more of an effort to help those with the least resources.

Two hours to go

Not really clock watching, but the neighbours just let off a lot of very loud fireworks and it’s nowhere near midnight yet! Two of the cats were out. One ran in, tail all fluffed up, but the other (big) one is still out! I shouted a few times but he didn’t come in. Hubby went looking, no sign. I just hope he wsdnt too scared. Did I say they were loud? About twenty rockets, one after another. I wish people would consider pets. And if they are going to let them off choose quiet ones. I still remember being at my mom’s house one new years eve. Some fireworks went off and we looked out of the front door… Suddenly a Robin flew in and upstairs! It would not go out until the fireworks stopped!

Last sunset of 2021

Compilation

We went out for a short walk locally as the sun started to set. The sky was very grey but there was a little patch of light in the south west, so I hoped it would possibly turn into a sunset. As you can see it did! I took lots of photos so I decided to do a sort of abstract compilation of some of them. I might try and line them up better later. So yes, this was the last sunset of 2021 here in my bit of the UK. In some places in the world midnight will have already been and gone. In others it’s probably only the morning. May your new year be good and safe. X

Christmas cactus

Christmas cactus flowering in the kitchen. These are a beautiful pale pink. I have some other ones that are red and dark pink.

How do they know when to flower? They always seem to come out around this time of year. As soon as the buds start to grow I start watering them and they soon grow and burst into flower. They are a lovely sight in the middle of winter.

Painting from college

This is a painting I did when I was about twenty. I was at college doing my fine art degree and I had recently met my then boyfriend (now hubby). This was in my small studio at college. The painting has been on the wall for several years. I painted him sitting on a chair with his feet up. He hasn’t changed too much.

Outside there was snow lying on the hills above the city. You could just see the roofs of the college across the road. The rooms we worked in were reasonably light. I remember the studios upstairs had parquet flooring. It was a different world from what I came from. I’m glad I went.

Nine pictures…

Artists on Instagram are posting nine favourite images from 2021.

So here are nine favourite images I created over several years. I realised I haven’t done many paintings this year because of doing my Illustration course. These images include a couple of murals and a tiny painting. They show me as an eclectic artist who loves colour, the environment and also abstraction.

Dragons get everywhere

Oh I do like creating a dragon now and then. I decided to rotate my sky drawing and then add a bit of symmetrical drawing over the top. I think the result is quite cute.

It’s getting towards the end of the day, week, year and I’m looking at some of my older stuff. I might have to delete some of the earlier work. Memory on computers and phones seems to run out faster than humans!
