Doodling digitally

When you get new apps you have to learn how to use them. There are similarities and differences. You try one app and then transport an image into another app and try and alter it by using different filters and pens and markers. Each of these started with the bottom left sketch and then I took a screenshot of it ( I had to find out how on this new phone), then added more on top. It’s not going to be my favourite method of altering images, but I’m learning. I have found recently that drawing tools seem to be limited. Instead you get backgrounds and filters to alter faces and landscapes but using photoshop like tools, not paintbrushes or pens. I know I can do more if I had the tools. Perhaps I will find something more satisfying soon.

Swallow falls a year ago

I don’t remember when we actually visited Swallowfalls, it’s in Wales near Capel Curig. The water flows off the Snowdonia range. I think I drew this from an old photo. It’s one of my felt pen drawings that I do with #bandofsketchers. This was drawn in May 2022, when we were more restricted in where we could go and I was being so cautious I drew from references more than real life (I still limit where we go). I wish I was up to travelling over there. Wales is a wonderful, picturesque, friendly country. Visit if you can X

Sunset

Sunset was Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt. As we arrived at our holiday destination one summer I was amazed to see what appeared to be a tall beam of sunshine above the setting sun. I found out later that it was a sun pillar. I think its a phenomenon where sunlight reflects off ice crystals in the sky? A bit like sun dogs. Can’t find the photo to work off so tried to remember it…

Sketch set

Went for a meal out at Sawadee Thai taste in Stoke tonight. While we were there I decided to sketch us. I had to imagine my self portrait, and they are all a bit scruffy as I just drew on a bit of old card I had in my bag, each sketch took a couple of minutes. Apple is the Thai lady that runs the restaurant.

The food was delicious, we had red curry with sticky rice and some pad Thai noodles. Not expensive and good company.

Hearts

Well not really! When you load perfectly good apps on your phone you expect them to keep working, or at least that you can reload them if you change your device. Unfortunately this phone is too new to support Layout App. I still have it on my PC I think but I don’t really use it, so another learning curve. My head hurts… Now I will try and understand the new app, and try not to be annoyed by in app ads!
