Cloudy evening

Clouds tonight, tiny specs of cloud and long mares tails. About 8pm tonight. The colours were beautiful and gentle. I think these clouds come before rain, so it might be thundering tomorrow.

At about six o’clock I saw this out of the landing window. A similar sort of cloud but without the whispy bits.

Looking up at clouds is fascinating. If you are interested you could look up the cloud appreciation society. There is a Facebook page about it.

A limerick to creativity

2020-08-08-17-31-37

With this app I will play

Make new images every day

Make my whiskers go all spikey

Make your love much more likely

Art is fun, is what I say!

Not sure if I’ve got the limerick right, it rhymes the same for the first two lines and the last line, and the third and fourth rhyme too. But I’m not sure it fits the rhythm of a limerick…

Da da dah da dah da da dadada (lines one, two and five)

and – Da da da dah da (lines three and four).

For instance, this is more recognisably a limerick:

There once was a cat had a fishery

It ate all the perch and the chicory,

It hadn’t a clue

What it needed to do

So it went into debt and to bankruptcy?

Although it doesn’t make much sense! But then again limericks don’t have to, they are often nonsense verse. For instance Lewis Carrol whose real name was Charles Dodson. Anyway strange post I guess…

Raydon, Teddy

DSC_2914

Hi, I’m Raydon, I come from a Youth hostel near Thirlmere in the Lake District. I was made by the mother of the warden of the hostel. Me and my brothers and sisters were bought by visitors to the hostel as souvenirs and to raise funds for the hostel. Each of us had ‘Ray’ in our names because that was the wardens name. I was named ‘Raydon’ by my new owner because she was interested in physics and was reading a book about Marie Curie and Radium. She thought because I was bright red I looked like I was glowing!

I mainly sit in the bedroom, gathering dust, but she dusted me down and took a photo of me. I hope she still loves me.

Birds in the garden

2020-08-08-16-49-18

We had a lovely chart in the ‘i’ paper with ots of bird a you can expect to see in your garden.  Of the thirty or so species illustrated, I think we get about half visiting our garden. They are Blackbirds, Blue tits, Robins, Song Thrushes, Great tits, Coal tits, a Jay, House sparrows, Woodpigeon, Collared doves, Feral pigeons, Wrens and Magpies. We probably have other species but sometimes it’s hard to identify them. Hubby told me he saw a Nightjar a couple of weeks ago but there has been no sign of it since. The best thing is seeing chick’s being raised. Baby Wrens and Robins, we also have nesting Blue tits and Blackbirds. It means we don’t cut the hedge till late in the year. But I’d rather have a scruffy hedge and happy birds.

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.

DSC_2913

Does anyone remember Spectrum? The agency that fought against the Mysterons who came from Mars and attacked the Earth? Captain Scarlet had been taken over by the Mysterons but he escaped. He ended up with the power not to be killed…

Captain Scarlet was a puppet show in the 1960’s and 70’s produced by Gerry Anderson (who also did Thunderbirds, Fireball XL5, Four Feather Falls, Stingray and  also Joe 90, UFO and I think Space 1999.

I have this little Spectrum patrol car that was clearly merchandise from the show. I also have an Eagle space vehicle from Space 1999.

Isn’t nostalgia a strange thing.

Perseids

From Spaceweather.com

PERSEID METEOR ALERT: Earth is entering a stream of debris from giant comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, source of the annual Perseid meteor shower. Although the display is not expected to peak until August 11-13, sky watchers are already seeing some of the most beautiful fireballs of the year. Plan your Perseid watch with sky maps and observing tips on today’s edition of of Spaceweather.com.

I hope we have clear skies in the UK.

Memory

_20200808_002528

I just found this memory, I’d decorated this jug, I did it at a local pottery in 2017. Now if I could only find the other side with the cat looking outwards not with its back to us! I think I gave it as a Christmas present. That’s the trouble with random memories if they are not in context. I only know when this was because I painted 2017 on it. By the way it’s meant to be a tortoiseshell cat.

Before Covid (BC)

IMG_20191105_002200_191

I try to remember before Covid. Walking free, no need to be nervous. Of course we could still catch flu, or get pneumonia, or be so ill you could die. But this is worse.

So I’ve decided to post pictures from before March, this is a digital drawing I did on the sketcher free app… I might draw some more images like this. I think I remember how I did it.

In other words, I don’t want to bore people. I will try and come up with more interesting content.

Crocodile laundry

Snap!

Picture mirrored in the Layout app (it’s something from Instagram). I was trying to think what it reminded me if and I suddenly though CROCODILE!

It’s weird how things can look if they are duplicated. You suddenly realise you are looking at some new creation. Some pattern that shouldn’t be there. It’s fun, it’s peculiar, it’s what I like to do.

Washing day

IMG_20200807_211454_760rusty bedsprings

Slumped by the wall.

Used to support beans growing tall.

A line of washing shades the view

Helping ease the sun’s bright hue.

Plants bathed in heat

Wither and dry

Turning brown

Hope they don’t die.

Above all water of life,

Carried in the clouds

Stopping great strife.

Overall its a British summer.

Bright in parts, in others dimmer.

Some places have vines,

Others marrows,

As the heat of the day

Makes eyes narrow.

So interesting view

Shirts, trousers a few.

Dry in one day.

That’s all I can say.
