Sometimes you just have to rest
Even though you try your best
To do the things
You need to do
Too tired to rhyme
So I’ll have some time
To myself today
Not work, not play
Just relax
And rest
For half an hour!
And close my eyes
And sleep
New paintings and regular art updates.

Our cat doesn’t seem bothered by rain. He comes in, soaking wet, and just plonks himself down on a cushion. He purrs while I stroke his back. He’s like a baby otter. Now he will sit and wash till he’s dry. Then he will probably have something to eat and then curl up to sleep.
There was a very wet cat
Who was also incredibly fat
He was like a sponge
When he took a plunge
Into custard stored in a vat.
OK that’s a really bad limerick. It doesn’t make much sense xx

Five years ago?
So long…
A kitten jamboree
A smorgasbord of kittens
Sweet enough to eat.
Four of them
But one was shy
Two to one home
Two to another
Happily ensconced
But a hole in my heart ♥

Halcyon days
Blue blur
Fish snatched
From branch
To stream
Then back up!
Electric blue
Just flew!

A sea of bluebells
Rippling in the wind
Surrounding an old Court
Like a moat.
Heads nodding on one side
Slim leaves
Shiny and dark green.
The Spring tide comes in
Then fades again.
Year on year
The tides of time
Turn.

Eye don’t know
Is it me?
Colours coruscate
Light flickers
Only one eye
Staring back at me?
Knowing nothing
Losing thoughts
I don’t know if it’s me.
Maybe?

Links, complications, colours
Convoluted beginnings
And endings.
Thinking about life
Memories bubble out
Like air filtering
Through a spring
Expanding and bursting.
Lights spark on my minds surface
Like old popping flash bulbs
On a box brownie camera
Or captured as polaroids
Held in gel
An album of my thoughts.

Cats don’t care.
Cats are aloof
They don’t need a councillor
They just need love
They can break your heart
But sometimes they might
Just give you a stare
Saying, just don’t go there
I am a cat
This is MY Mat!

Esther (I’ve forgotten her surname!?) sorry. Challenges each week to take a word and use it in a limerick. This was my effort today. Its something to work at, getting the line lengths right and the rhymes right. The first second and fifth lines are of similar length and should rhyme and the third and fourth lines should be shorter and also rhyme. X

The wind blows
Catkins shiver
On the boughs
Blackbirds sing
Here is spring?
But we need rain
Not late March winds!
April showers
Would water the flowers
But their roots
Stay dry
Meanwhile
Sun shines.
