I have the garden to tend.
Paintings to work on
Things to mend
But today, I slumped
Sat down, rested
Too tired and flat
Like a battery
Powered down
Without a full charge.
I need some sun
Maybe Vitamin D
A walk tomorrow
Might help me!
New paintings and regular art updates.

I don’t want a mouse
Or a frog
Bought in alive
To scurry or croak.
Caught with a fishing net
For goldfish
And put out again.
I don’t want that bee!
Keep it for yourself
Or a wasp
You surreptitiously
Sneak in
For my pleasure
Take that shrew away
At least hedgehogs are spiky
So they won’t be dropped
At my feet
With a smug purr!
There you go!
Here’s my rent!

We haven’t forgotten
Your senseless bombardment
Killing civilians
Tearing Ukraine apart
Destroying streets
Demolishing homes
Because you can?
Monsters rule you
Make your country
Unforgivable
Why ?

Star shining high
Twinkling in the sky.
Crystal spheres
Pin you to the firmament
Finding your way
Through the constellations
A dragons eye
With diamond tears
In our Universe
Glistening in the Galaxy.

Cats come in,
Cats go out,
Paws leave prints
Mud, earth, water,
Cats eat
Cats sleep
Make your home
Their territory.
They take over
your chair
Your bed
Your keyboard
Your larder.
Cats
Our Masters?

Bright colours greet
But darker tones calm
Muting strong memories
A face seen by me
Gave me joy.
Sketching fast
Mixing and merging
Growing filaments
Glow metallically.
Digital fun.
A view of my mind….
Or yours?

Negative lateral flow
So that’s good
Sore throat and aches
That’s a bit bad
Tired and fed up
But not very ill
Just feeling down
In the dumps
While my brain slumps!

Or Moth
Flutter by
We love you
When we see you
In the summer
Riding the breeze
On the flowers
Flitting quickly
In the sun

Strange little painting
Came from my mind
A little idea
Of a bird in a tree
Old window bars
Rusty and dry
Frame a bright view
Of a frozen blue sky.
Jay at the centre
Waiting to fly.

Interactive, haptic
Hectic, internetted
Encapsulated, held
Bells and whistles
Too connected!
Now my projects done
I’m having fun
But it’s to seductive
All those screens
You and him and me
Chatting and liking
Dose of dopamine
Eyes go funny
Arm aches
Fingers droop
But still I type.
Put the phone down
Disconnect…..
Freedom!
