Pink cat!

Sunlight reflecting off her fur, on the windowledge at the top of the stairs, she looks out to check on what’s going on in the garden. Not long now to the winter equinox when the days will slowly start to get longer again. She’s so soft and sweet.

Cats know how to keep warm. The heat rises up the stairs so she is happy up there. This afternoon she’s gone out for a little walk round the garden, I think she will be back in again soon. Then she will either go back upstairs or sit on the cat tree by the radiator in the living room.

Insomnia again, no!

My mind is spinning again, and my body has been spinning in bed, left side, back, right side, left side, right, back, left…..

Sheet covering me, duvet and sheet, no sheet… Too hot, too cold. Pain in my toes, pain in my knee, back, neck..

Twisting and turning so much, it might be a dance. Now my guts are joining in, discomfort, so I’ve come down for a decaff coffee. Soon I’ll be back in bed. But while I’m here, at 5.15am, why not just check out my phone for stories, funny memes, memories, jokes…… Put it down! Put. It. Down…

Good morning x dawn will be breaking soon.

Doodling day

I started the centre of this months ago then lost the sketch book. I found it again last night and decided to finish it. I tried adding different patterns and shapes. It took me a couple of hours last night and a few more this morning. I do like a good doodle. No tablet or mouse in sight, just straightforward drawing with a black ink pen. Of course I can play with it digitally but I don’t want to at the moment, sometimes original is best. X

Awake

Woke up to a blue sky with patchy clouds. Do you look for things in the clouds? I thought I could see Yoda in this photo from a few days ago (bottom half of the photo). Strange how the mind works. I guess it’s because you have to be awake and aware as a human being. Maybe you need to see possible threats so pattern recognition is a good thing. I’ve often written about my ability to see patterns. Pareidolia is what it’s called. But yes it’s good to be awake and seeing blue skys. But we do need rain.

Woodpecker

This morning I saw a woodpecker in our garden. I’d never seen one in real life and I’m not sure what type it was but it was climbing up our willow tree, pecking at the bark. Looking for insects? I hope it comes back tomorrow. If it does I will try and get a photo then try and identify it. We do have lots of trees in the garden even though we are in the centre of a city. I guess we are trying to do our bit for the environment.

Blue woman…

He woke up and saw the figure of a blue woman hovering in the bedroom. She was standing, but as he looked down to the side of the bed her feet were a couple of inches above the floor.

She had no facial features, like a mannequins dummy, blank faced, not even eyes. No mouth, no sound. He felt, somehow though, that she was looking at him? The angle of her head, tipped down and intent on where he lay. He noticed motes of dust in the sunbeam shining through the window. He could see them floating beyond the figure. It was dissolving as he watched.

Finally it faded, gradually, slowly, melting into nothing. No explanation, no reason, gone. All he felt was a wash of calm, not fear, and relieved that she was gone.

Cat keeps me awake

Two am…

Two am, or three am or four am….. He wakes up on the bed and asks to go out. Well actually he comes and lies on top of me, then taps me with his paws. That’s fine, I’d rather he asked than had an accident. My indoor cats have litter trays but he doesn’t like that. I can’t open the cat flap or my indoor cats might get out.

But then, at seven am my little girl cat gets her claws under the duvet and scratches at me! I’m under the thrall of my cats! Goodnight!

Shadow

I saw this as a little dalek (it’s an alien from Dr Who) which is a BBC sci-fi series that started in the 1960’s. Its actually a washing up bottle with the cap up! It’s going to ‘exterminate’ grease and food waste. The windowsill is covered with indoor house plants, I like the curves of the bowls and their fawn colour against the blue of the tiles.

Woke up to the outside cat on the bed…

He stayed the night again and I woke up with a very happy cat snuggled on the bed. So much so, when I got up and made a coffee I couldn’t get back in bed easily because he was weighing the duvet down! I think he’s transitioned to an indoor/ outdoor cat now. Which is good because he can spend winter in the warmth of his new home.

My box, hooman

This box?
Not too small at all….

When a small train arrived this morning for my hubby he took it out of its packaging in a flash. Discarding the box it came in. Boy cat pounced on it and tried to get in!

Much amusement and a few photos later! Here he is, the cat on the mat in the box. Box squashed flat! My hubby is pleased with the trains and the cat with the box. Win-win!

I apologise for using the term ‘hooman’ I see it when people post about cats. I guess it’s a fashion thing. Do you think it’s a bit too cutesie?

Might be worth reading Cat watching by Desmond Morris.
