Acrylic on canvas, a few more layers. The rough edges of his coat, where they touch the grass, need sorting out. The dig has got a silver coat and a collar and lead on which I’ve left out so I’m trying to decide where the shadows should fall and his fur. I think I’ve made some of it too yellow, I need daylight to check.
Just did this quick sketch of Bear, my friends dog. The picture is only small. Black and grey ink and a bit of acrylic paint because the fine line black ink was too dark. I hope I’ve made her coat look white enough.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was animal or pet so this is what I’m going to post. I hope my friend doesn’t mind.
At the moment I’m stuck with my college work. I have ideas, I seem to know what I want to do. But I have a fear of failing. The heat doesn’t help. I’m ending up doing things at 3am, but it’s not enough. Words circle in my mind, like vultures, ready to sink down on the ruin of my ideas. Prevarication prevents failure. I don’t feel I can do a good enough job.
I must start. By writing this down I’m trying to give me a kick start to things. I need to order a couple of books, but I’ve even held back from doing that. I know I can do the course, but I’m disappointed that I didn’t get higher marks. I have passed each semester though. Why would this one be different? Easier to think than write…
Yesterday’s #bandofsketchers prompt was short. Black ink on cartridge paper. This was just drawn because I couldn’t think of what to draw. I did think short wave radio but that didn’t really seem interesting enough.
I could have drawn myself, my short stature, not very exciting. A short drink or a short walk? Other thoughts….
Received from space? Old photo mirrored. The original photo was about a stormy sky but the effect of mirroring this has bought the attention to the (seemingly) floating TV Ariel.
What is it for? Is it an alien Ariel? A communication from beyond the stratosphere? An energy collector or scrambler of radio waves? Something from a Sci-fi movie. Could it tune in to the high pitched sounds of bats? Imagination can take you anywhere!
I just love them, their colour, brilliance, shape, papery petals. Colourful flowers that are imbued with sorrow because they were used to commemorate wars. They sprang up in the fields of flanders after the battles there. And yet to me they don’t signify fighting or fears, but memories of summers long gone, my favourite colour and how tiny seeds can create such magnificent flowers.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Woven. I tried to copy some celtic knotwork but it went a bit wrong. Plus my pen was running out. Anyway I had a go. I used to love celtic art. I may try again. Black ink drawing.
Playing with a photo app, you can change the texture/lines of a drawing, add the drawing to a photo they provide and even add text. I like how the cat in my drawing is looking down on the street. He’s haughty and aloof.
