Blurry cat

Outdoor cat is in again. In fact he’s been in three times today. Mainly to avoid the noise of fireworks 🎇 going off.

He will sit on the settee for an hour then mooch back off to the backdoor, to be let out. He’s also eating in the kitchen now. In the past he was eating in the shed, then by the back door. Eventually he started eating inside the back door with the door open… Now, inside. Next thing I want to do is get him a strong flea collar. He’s worn collars in the past so it should be OK.

Tonight there is more progress, he actually played with a cat toy for a few minutes, then came over to be petted by both of us and purred loudly. I’m glad he’s ‘playing nicely’ he’s twice the size of my other cats. I want no squabbles. So I’ll stay up till he wants out again, just to ensure my other two are OK.

Abstract and strange

We know how something natural looks. It is often untidy, not always symmetrical, analogue not digital. But when you play with photos you can create structures that don’t exist in reality, you can expand distances and change perspectives. That’s what I did with the photo I used to create this. A kind of tree tray or chandelier. I don’t know, but abstracting as much fun as I can…

Reflections

I do like odd images that happen as a happy accident. This is our lamp shade reflected in the side window. I think it’s a bit like a floating jellyfish or an emoji? The two dark patches are the eyes and the bright patch the nose. Rather than dismissing it as an error I started playing around with it….

Now it looks like strange eyes and a nose… Sometimes it’s a fun idea to explore and use your mistakes.

Cat and ball âš½

Our cat loves this ball, it’s a ping-pong ball covered in a knitted stripy fabric.

Suddenly there will be a clatter and the cat, who takes the ball upstairs in her mouth, is chasing it downstairs, then into the kitchen or along the living room floor.

She bat’s it backwards and forwards between her front paws, or under the settee then pulls it back out with her claws. The game goes on for half an hour or so. In which time she will run up and down stairs several times. If she was a footballer she would be a premiership star!

Last night I started throwing the ball up stairs and then she chased it back down. Having cats are fun.

Drawing with nail varnish

This is a thing now. I had a sketchy picture of my hubby done on black paper. I’d used pastels to do the drawing back in September, but after playing with nail varnish to draw a landscape view, I decided to use them on the drawing. It certainly had an interesting effect. It’s shiny and the colours change depending on where the light bounces off. I finished it off with adding a few lines with a silver marker pen. It reminds me of oil on water.

Hey hooman, fetch me my tea

My paws are cold, turn on the heating hooman. Miaow, where’s my food? Little questions or demands they make. Insisting they are served. Hooman you have no choice, you are in my power. Now play with me, no I want to curl up and sleep, oh I’ve changed my mind, I want to go out.

Hooman, you should know I don’t eat THAT food. It is not special enough. Give me more of the rich tasty stuff.

Hooman? Where is my catnip? I née my catnip toy. I love you hooman. But don’t try and pick me up! No I won’t take my claw out of your hand!

Purrr, I’m feeling friendly. Let me put my claws in your leg. Oi let me down hooman. I’ve had enough fuss!

Trying to design an enamel brooch

Work in progress. Digital drawings of a ‘spotted draon’. I’m thinking of doing something like this for a course project. I thought I’d try and do some working out. It I wanted to make it I would have to learn enamelling techniques and get a kiln to fire it in. But then I would have to cost it and see if its feasible. Or maybe I can design it and then get someone to make it for me? I don’t know. I have a friend who does fused glass, maybe she could help. Life is interesting….
