Painting or photo?

Changing this
To this

By mirroring, changing texture, changing the colour and adding lens flare you can get a whole different, if artificial, landscape. I’m not sure I have made it look natural, I wanted to make it look like I had used a paintbrush and oil paints, but the lens flare is perhaps too sharp. Maybe I should put it through another filter or have I gone far enough.

Cats on boxes

A comfy sofa, a place to curl up and sleep.. But my cat loves boxes. Open or closed. If it’s made of cardboard he will lie on it or sleep in it! Forget cat beds, I’ve got three or four, but apart from one very enclosed covered over one he would rather sleep on a box.

I’m expecting a bit of rivalry though, the space next to this box has a towel on it that my other boy cat has been sleeping on. When he comes in I will see what happens.

Clothes

Well actually clothes horse with clothes on. At 3am this morning I was feeling rough, sore throat and achy so I decided to get up and draw. This was sketched in tippex and metallic pens on black paper. Photograph was late at night under electric light. I could take another photo but don’t feel well enough.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was clothes.

Cat again

Big head, tiny paws. An example of foreshortening. Those dark eyes do stare at me. You have to be a mind reader sometimes with cats. But they are persuasive. In this case its his ‘feed me…’ look. Then when he’s eaten he’ll be back out through the cat flap. Padding around in the dark, exploring his territory.

You know, cats are sneaky. They get humans round their little paws. They are incredible cheeky creatures!

Photo experiment

Hubby did this in the 1980’s. It’s still up on the stairs. I don’t know how he did it. Is it a camera on a bench looking up to a lamp overhead and the hands interposed between the two? Or perhaps it’s a mirror on the wall with a tipped up lamp? I don’t even know if they are his hands, maybe he had someone place them in shot? It could be a bowl of water with a light reflected in it….

Do you know I’ve never asked him. Its just a dusty, fading photo. But it’s part of him, part of his idea of life, it expresses something about a younger person. Someone still in there.

Stars

Green stars abstract. Using a photo of an illuminated star. Duplicating it then changing the textures. The resulting image is a colourful abstract with an antique feel to it.

Pattern again, I like repeating images and tessellations. Must be the way my mind works… I like to learn and play with things till they look good. X
