Gingko?

Seen on an allotment. This tree with strange leaves. They were changing colour and may be gone next week as we are having a cold, wet and windy spell, it may even be frosty in the morning. I think it might be a Gingko?

Yes it is! Gingko Bilboa. Apparently the tree that time forgot according to Mr Google. Now I know I might order one from t’internet as my Yorkshire friend says.

Screen time

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

I don’t manage it well, when my hands get tired I put my phone down, or when I watch something on TV. But I think I’m addicted. I like a couple of word games and play them on my phone, then there’s art, and taking photos of things I like.

Currently I’m watching a very old Alfred Hitchcock film from the 1930’s. It’s a romance. TV screen…

Apart from that I’m on a few social media platforms (too many for my own good! ).

To be honest I wish I could turn the clock back and STEP AWAY FROM THE SCREENS!

Have I bored you?

Twins?

How do I get readers attention?

Should I write:

Poems, stories about cats, short stories, art, life, Sci fi, a mixture? I try and keep up with the times, but am I boring you? I need to be self critical and also intelligible. Are my posts interesting? I try and be polite, considerate, thoughtful, but I’m probably too old fashioned.

I can’t talk about pop music, and I love science. I try and think things through. I think I must be a nerd

So far this post has been about me (I), but really, what about you?

Have you any suggestions, and ideas, are you interested in knitting or quantum physics? I can’t promise to be able to write about either, but I’m willing to try!

Who knows?

What will your life be like in three years?

Life might change, it might be the same. So much has happened over the last few years that I honestly don’t know. I might move on somewhere else, or stay here. We might have new neighbours. I might win the lottery, but probably not.

We make plans, but life has a way of confusing things. Even if you are strong and rational it doesn’t mean things will always go OK. I don’t mean to be negative though. It’s just that the chaos humans can create around themselves impacts on others too. Disorder happens. Entropy can mean moving from order to disorder. I’m thinking of lots of words that just mean I don’t think I can predict what will happen. I can try and hope though that things will be better.

As you get older life can get sorted out or complicated. It really means you have to have enough money to live on. Sometimes that’s not possible. Better to be organised sooner rather than later.

Cloudscape

I love piled up clouds, dark and threatening, but with bright white patches, and blue sky (enough to make a sailors britches). You know a heavy shower is on the way, but it won’t last long, and the sun will be shining again.

When I used to walk to school I would chase the shadows of clouds. They would drift along the pavement like lapping waves. I don’t seem to see them any more? Maybe their edges are too fluffy. Or they don’t scud past anymore? Has the, weather changed in the last fifty years…?

British Ceramic Biennial

Today was the last day of the biennial exhibition. We only managed to get to the one venue at All Saints church on Leek Road Stoke-on-Trent. The pottery and ceramics on display were remarkable. From abstract to classical, but all with a modern twist. I wish I’d managed to get round the other venues, but I didn’t feel up to it. Anyway I bumped into a couple of friends. I will probably post a few more photos later.

Storm Ciaran

Hundreds of miles of the South of England have been badly affected by Storm Ciaran (pronounced kiaron).

Rooves have been torn off, trees uprooted, a branch like a spear pierced the roof of a mobile home and punctured the bed the occupant had just vacated. A woman woke in the storm and grabbed her baby from it’s cot just as the windows blew in. 107 thousand homes had their power cut off. Many have had it restored but 20 thousand are still without electricity.

The channel islands have suspended ferry crossings and their airports are closed. There was a red weather warning indicating danger to life and property.

Meanwhile Northern France was also badly hit by the storm. I think there were wind speeds over 110 miles an hour. We are lucky to be far north of this weather event.
