I’m still aching

When you pull a muscle don’t expect it to heal overnight. You can expect discomfort for several days or a few weeks. You start doing things, then, ouch, you over stretch or twist or lift your foot or knee up a little too quickly and that band of pain clamps on your leg again.

Don’t expect to sleep well. If you can’t get upstairs you could be limited to sleeping in an armchair or on a settee or sofa. My cats are most disgruntled that I’m sleeping in their warm spot.

Don’t expect to be able to do the shopping. If a friend helps that’s a godsend. If your partner does it, we’ll don’t expect what’s on the list. As long as he’s happy…. In any case it will be all over soon. My patience has been stretched to a twanging, tight rope, ready to snap!

Seahorse

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was idyllic. Today I was sitting feeling sorry for myself, then my hubby asked me to draw a seahorse like I had drawn on the beach last week. So today’s drawing is a Seahorse from my imagination, it would be idyllic to see a mythological beast like this. Used an old black felt pen because it gave nice soft lines…

Autumn sky

The nights are ‘drawing in’, Autumn (fall) starts officially on Wednesday this week. The weather is set to get colder. There will be a change to it, mist and fogs are due, rain and wind, even some storms.

This photo was taken a few nights ago, high pressure over the UK and a red sky in the evening indicating settled warm weather.

Even if we had long term weather forecasts they are never that accurate here in the UK. The air over us is unstable, affected by the ocean, the Arctic, weather over Europe and coming in from the East over Russia. If you want interesting, rapidly changing weather come to the UK.

Ripples

Ripples remembered on the beach at Rhyl. Memories of walking on that beach as a child. The gently sloping beach would allow you to walk in shallow water as the tide came in or went out. I remember walking over those ridges that were quite hard, my little feet could feel them, they don’t flatten as your weight goes onto them if you are a child. Rhyl beach is long and wide when the tide is out. When I was small I wandered off to paddle in the sea. But when I turned round I couldn’t see my family anywhere. It was before I found out I needed glasses and it was only a kind person who took me to the lifeguard station where they used the tannoy that helped me to get reunited. On the same holiday I think I wandered into someone else’s caravan because it looked like ours? I must have been about six as I got glasses aged seven.

Old roses

Autumn is coming,

the roses are fading.

Blue sky has mackerel clouds.

Sea breezes are cooler

laden with moisture.

Soon it will be

‘the season of mist’s

and mellow fruitfulness’

that some forgotten poet

(forgotten by me)

once wrote about.

Beauty and the Beast

watch the petals fade and fall….

Will they catch them

before it’s too late?
