Picnic

Memory of a picnic on the beach this summer. The tide was out. There was soft sand to sit on. We had a simple meal of salad and melon for dessert. What makes it memorable was that it was a beach we visited a few years before and I didn’t think we would be able to go back. It didn’t matter that it was overcast, or that the beach was quite crowded, it made me feel happy. That’s why it’s good to go back to this memory. Nothing bad happened and it was really enjoyable. I need good memories.

I saw a horse

I saw a horse in my digital drawing from earlier. It’s funny but I didn’t see it until I looked at a smaller version of the doodle. It’s a strange picture but I might turn it into a painting. I like the way the swirls look like a huge mane. I think I will get my paints out soon! Digital doodling over a photo of a felt pen sketch.

Craft fairs

Something has happened! I’ve decided I need to try and do craft fairs again. I have asked to do a couple, over two weekends. I don’t think I’m ever going to make money at it but I hope to cheer people up with my little paintings. I only charge a few pounds for them, but they don’t take up too much space and they can get placed on shelves instead of having to be hung on walls… Now I just need some more small canvases.

Random dog

A lovely dog we saw while we were out a couple of weeks ago. It was a mixed breed but I can’t remember exactly what? A shitzu crossed with a corgi? It was small and sweet and friendly. I took a photo as I was thinking I might do a small painting including it. I’m not sure what to do in the background. Why are small fluffy dogs so cute? I think it’s the sweet eyes and nose.

It’s not real, honest.

Hubby was playing with a model aeroplane yesterday. The trouble was the shutter on my camera reacted a few seconds after I pressed it, so the plane was not in the picture. I had a silly idea. I would superimpose a model plane on the photo. Problem, I don’t have that sort of software on my phone. So I drew a plane instead. Its badly drawn and I had to erase bits of it to get the general shape. But you get the idea of what was happening in reality.

Green, red, white and black cat.

Happy cat. I decided to play with using a black and white filter then adding texture and then a flood fill of red and green. I think it is similar in an Andy Warhol image (though I make no claim of having the same sort of skills as him) I just think it shows how digital filters now can quickly change an image that would have required skills such as black and white photography and screen printing in the past.

SuperCat

I wanted to get a photo of my cat in this pose but he moved. The way he was sleeping reminded me of Superman in flight. The photo of him is transposed because he wouldn’t turn round for me. Now he’s asleep again on the arms of our chairs, he lies on a cushion that straddles the two armchair arms. I would like to do a cartoon strip about a cat. I had done one online a few years ago called the adventures of Tig, but that site is now defunct. When I think about it I have done a lot of art over the years!

Bright

Colourful patterns swirling round and merging. It could be alien or insect. Maybe a design for fabric or a stained glass window. I like complexity, I don’t know if something like this would be a good idea for printing onto a note card?

I have talked about doing this before but have never been organised enough to do it. I have lots of ideas but I think I need some expert advice. Which are the best sites to get things printed at? I need quality prints, but not too expensive. I found a shop that might do it but I haven’t got the money to do it yet…
