When Sam woke he didn’t know where he was. He was lying on a couch with a cushion shaped like a cat, and a knitted owl staring at him. His head felt groggy and he was thirsty.
He stood up and stretched. He quietly looked round the room. There were two plush armchairs and lots of clutter stacked about the place. Mainly books on shelves built into the alcoves on either side of the chimney. There were pictures all over the walls and an easle in one corner.
There was a smell of cooking wafting from the kitchen. It smelt like chicken. Suddenly his taste buds were jumping. He strolled towards the cooker. ‘Well hello boy’ said the woman standing by it stirring the food. ‘you hungry?’ ‘would you like a drink?’ He looked up at her, she was very tall.
‘Miarow’ a strange sound came out of his mouth, boy she was Very Tall. He tried again ‘miaow, murrp’. WHAT THE HELL?
He suddenly realised, his tail swishing from side to side. He was now a cat!
Well this is interesting, I have got to draw a picture using a few symbols based on my alphabet idea. (I had to choose different symbols to illustrate each letter of the alphabet). The challenge only allows me to use the symbols for three letters. I have to come up with an image based on the word betrothed….
It’s going to be hard to come up with an illustration to represent it.
I also have to draw something to the idea crocodile eggs….. I’m not sure what I will do! Wish me luck!
Probably drawn around 2011 or 2012. Drawn at sketchfu. There was something very satisfying about being able to draw what you want, and not being constrained by ‘colouring book’ style websites where you add pre selected colours and everyone’s pictures are the same except for the speed you do them. I am on one of those sites, and although it’s good to see what the image turns out to be, it’s really just like painting by numbers, except you can’t go mad and add different colours to jarring effect.
In fact what I might do is buy some painting by numbers kits when all this is over, and fill them in with different colours, just neatly completed, or try and do a time-lapse film of it.
I’m sure other artists have already thought of this….
Here my hubby is modelling them.
Take a pair of large size polyester boxer shorts. Put on leg over your face and neck like a scarf. Twist the middle of them and then put the other leg over your head like a headband.
This is what he wore to the shops. Along with leather gloves. I hope it was sufficient protection. Taking them off carefully afterwards. I will use my gardening gloves to pick them up and put them through a hot wash. We are now re-supplied for a few more days x
A friend asked if anyone knew a humane way to trap a mouse. This was a method I was once told about for a humane trap.
Put chocolate in a wide necked bottle. Prop it up and put a tea towel in the neck so the mouse can climb up. The idea is the mouse eats the chocolate but then can’t climb out of the bottle because the glass is too steep and slippery. When you find it in the morning use the teatowel to stop up the neck of the bottle and take it outside to release.
It might work, you never know. At least the mouse won’t be eating your food. The bottle should be put in a quiet place so it feels safe. X
From Facebook :
A friend who works for the NHS said ” I haven’t seen any as yet but a friend has seen a picture of a rainbow in someone’s window, so, how about we all draw, paint, print one off and put them in our windows?? Something to do if nothing else then as We’re bombing around”….. “in our Ambo we can start counting how many we see!!!
There’s always a rainbow at the end of a Storm and it could show that we are all standing together (2 metres apart lol) to ride this storm out!!!
Then when this IS all over, and it will be, we can all have rainbow parties (any excuse for a knees up!) to celebrate “….
I though what a wonderful idea. I did one of my own which is in my front window now. It may not be much, but it made me feel more positive.
What do you do if the parking meter is out of order? No phone number to ring, no other meter to use?
Take a photo of the meter. I’ve blotted out the time and place on this picture. But that’s just because I’m not publishing where I was or what time. But I have it saved on my phone. If I had got a ticket I would have used this to prove the ticket machine was broken. I only stayed there because all other spaces were taken.
Also the council can use meta data to prove my photo was taken on the date and time that I took it and my phones GPS will prove that I haven’t used a photo from a previous date.
Anyway it didn’t happen, I wasn’t fined. But I hope this makes sense.
Just a doodle using the winter tree idea but with autumn leaves. The base is meant to be pebbles and rocks with a mountain stream running below the tree. Faces of spirits again populate the tree. I think they would be more aggressive or annoyed than the winter one, Im not sure why. Perhaps the cold autumn winds are getting on their nerves! I love the dark crystal film and the creatures in there, maybe that’s what’s influencing me?
An acrylic on canvas from 2013. This was one of my favourite paintings and I used it as my profile picture for a few years. I’m no longer sure it’s as good as I thought. I would change the background to a darker grey green now to make the red Zing even more.
I think I will base another painting on it though. I’m thinking of doing a long thin painting that could be hung horizontally or vertically. The design would have to work in both directions and perhaps even upside down.
I listen to radio 4 on the BBC network and they have a programme called “thought for the day” which is why I have added an A to the front of the title incase I’m infringing copyright.
The radio programme is what it says, a thought, but from a religious perspective. A lot of people have been calling for non religious thoughts to be included. Sometimes it seems as if the talk is non religious but then there is a twist at the end.
Why is it assumed that only if you are religious can you have morals? Why are we still held by the assumption that good things are only possible with the will of a deity?
Don’t get me wrong, I do not think religions are bad. I have been bought up in the Christian faith and I have many friends who follow various religions.
My main quibble is that some people do good because they are promised a reward in heaven. I don’t know what I think of an afterlife but I do think that if you are not religious you can still be good. In fact if you do not have a religion and are not expecting a reward and just do things for the greater good does that give a moral superiority?
I don’t go as far as that, but I enjoy giving people help and assistance. Humans need to care more for one another and not base their ideas on what tribe we belong to. Perhaps that is something we should consider if we want this planet to continue
What do you think? Why not comment ….
