Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was puppet. Clown puppet idea. I didn’t want to copy another photo so I made my own design. I know clowns paint their faces on eggs to register their pattern, no doubt this is someone’s design?
New paintings and regular art updates.

So yet again I didn’t know what to draw. I tried to remember the shape of the North American continent (including Canada) and to draw it from imagination. Then I remembered when our teacher would use a roller to print out the shape of the United Kingdom onto our school books for geography class. Maybe American children had something similar to use for history or geography? So that’s what this drawing is meant to be…#bandofsketchers prompt for Thursday.
Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was Europe. I had no idea what to do for this. I do love Gaudi the architect and I tried to channel the sort of colours and patterns he uses, but it’s all imagined and I have not used any reference.
A mad idea, a curry dragon! I was just going to write about a nice curry we ate and I was looking for a photo but my finger slipped and I chose this photo instead. But a curry dragon, why not? There have been soup dragons that lived with the clangers that lived on a moon on TV in the sixties and seventies. Now I could imagine a hot fiery and spicy curry that could fly away and set fire to the table.
Memory of a trip to the Southwest of England. We stopped off at a lovely sea cove, and on the cliffs above it there were bright red poppies. These were so cheering, waving in the breeze along with rough stalks of grass. I need to paint a picture of a poppy field, this might be an inspiration to work from.
Thinking of trying another idea for a painting. Wheat and poppy. Using red, blue green and yellow with thin black outlines. It would have to be stylized to fit in with the new technique I’m using but I don’t want to overdo it. I love the way poppy petals are shaped and coloured.
Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was railings. It was posted on Wednesday night before Thursdays news. I ignored the prompt yesterday, but it became obvious what I would sketch. This is not based on reality but taken from my imagination.
I saw a horse in my digital drawing from earlier. It’s funny but I didn’t see it until I looked at a smaller version of the doodle. It’s a strange picture but I might turn it into a painting. I like the way the swirls look like a huge mane. I think I will get my paints out soon! Digital doodling over a photo of a felt pen sketch.
Someone had taken off the plaster and replaced the bricks, you could see it, new mortar holding them in place. The house had been bought at auction, half refurbished, needing plasterboard and plaster. It wouldn’t take much to tidy it up ready for the rental market.
But Sam was nosey, she liked riddles, and as the wallwas double thickness and she wanted to fit an extra window, well why not put a lintle in and add the bathroom window here?
She decided to get her brother to help. They would support the top of the hole with a metal beam and then knock out the hole afterwards. They managed to get the beam in but it was late so they stopped.
Early next morning she went to the house. Picking up a sledge hammer she hit the wall where the new bricks were a couple of times, there was a crack and half a brick fell out. She could see, what? Plastic behind it. Someone had wrapped a package up and stuffed it into the gap between the layers of bricks. She hit the wall again, the bricks shattered and fell to the floor. She reached in…. A bag full of ten and twenty pound notes! What were they doing there. They were new style notes, the ones that look like plastic not paper.
Should she keep them? Should she hand them in? The phrase ‘finders keepers’ came into her mind…. Should she?
Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was the future based on the Potter Graysons Perry’s Art club on TV.
Oh my! What to draw. Bogged down writing my college report I decided to draw future ‘P. E. T’ a personal environmental trainer (and jukebox). Lol. It also purrs and mioaws! Just a silly doodle.
