Walk that lonely road,
Carry a heavy load
Head down with your thoughts
Tangled up and caught.
Never look around
Don’t listen to the sound
Of singing birds
Or spoken words…
They are hidden
And are unbidden
From you world
Mind unstirred
Alone.
New paintings and regular art updates.

Overflow to a lake or pond. I was stuck by how it was constructed with something that looked like a cartwheel to stop people or things falling in? A bit flimsy. Perhaps it needs a grating or lid on top. Still the moss on the spokes was very natural. The water must be quite clean x

Staffordshire University is holding its first degree shows for a couple of years. We went to see the fine art show today. Its also on tomorrow. I thought the show was one of the best I had seen in years. (we go most years). There was a lot of interesting images and ideas. Some exceptional painters and thought provoking installations. I decided not to take photos as each of the students will have their own copyright and I didn’t have permission to take pictures of their work. If you are in the area tomorrow pop in and take a look? Check on Google for opening times. Staffordshire University, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

Slowly, quietly, Covid numbers are starting to rise again. Last week in the UK one in seventy people were being infected with Covid, including new Omicron variants. This week its gone up to one in sixty five. Life seems to just go on. No one seems very concerned anymore. I keep wearing masks. I can’t see any point in stopping. I need to buy some more lateral flow tests. The government stopped giving them out for free a few months ago. It’s got to end one day, but when? Who knows.

Clouds pile up above a dark blue sea and waves rise, ready to crash against a rocky coast. Cliffs covered in boulders and vegetation stand above a small sandy area.
Having to describe what I have painted is hard, I know what I can see but finding a description that adequately explains it is difficult, especially since I’ve added texture and patterns. I’ve entered it for a local open art exhibition. It’s a bit of a risk, but I wanted to try. X

Look at you,
Star-ing out at me
Flame of yellow eye
Iris shaped and twisted
Sight burnt by the light
Scrunched into a small space
Tears flood your lashes
Dark shadows cast
Hard stare
Thoughtful and sad.

I do odd doodles in my sketchbook. This wS a drawing of someone falling, then I added stick figures of jumping and handstands and other movements. Why not? It’s a good mental exercise to try and think what the positions of limbs are when the body moves. It’s a bit scruffy, but I’m trying to get the shapes right. I think the falling one was hardest. Positioning of hands and arms from a memory of someone falling is not easy!

I’m trying to replicate a photo of a felt pen drawing I did that I had put through a filter in Photodirector. So this is an acrylic painting work in progress based on the filtered image. An analogue to digital and back to analogue image…. Its interesting to try and add the digital texture. Appeals to my pattern needs. I think I’m addicted to pattern!

Pigeon, today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was bird. I decided not to Google a bird, but to try and draw from memory. I think it’s a reasonable representation, I dare not look at a photo of one to see how wrong I’ve got it!
Biro drawing in my sketchbook.

Just green.
Over the world
More air to breathe
Fresh and clean.
Keep the trees
Grow more forests
Stand back from the land
Let nature take over
Give life a chance.
