Galloping over ground
Chasing round in circles
Dancing up and down,
Riding high with friendly faces,
Horses in Derby races!
Round again and cantering fast
Now your on the home stretch
Past the winning post at last!
New paintings and regular art updates.

I found these on my phone, small, colourful paintings in acrylic an tiny canvases. I think these were done a couple of years ago. I paint so many different things. I remember a lady from South Africa really liking these and getting one of them for her mother.
Today I get my results for my First term doing an MA. I hope I’ve done OK. You have to paint a lot of giraffes to get enough money to live on. So I’m trying to diversify! If I can get some illustration work that would be helpful. So fingers crossed and a deep breath. I will try and stay calm. X

In February we were in the local pantomime. It was Aladdin. I also painted the scenery including this cutout of a cast member who had gone through a mangle and had to come out flattened. You would think it was easy. But have you tried painting feet from the back as well as the front? I took photos of the front and back of the person but the feet looked odd? I should have placed them like Charlie Chaplin perhaps? I hope life starts to return to normal and we get to do another panto soon! Oh yes I do! Oh no you don’t!

A 2-6-2, 3MT, Graham Farish, British Railways, mixed traffic, ‘n’ gauge railway engine. Modeled on a steam engine built in about 1962 during the last day’s of steam trains in Britain before they were axed in favour of type 2 diesel engines.
My hubbies latest train for his n gauge railway layout. It’s a very fine engine and has a very delicate mechanism. He’s happy. X

We have been seeing our hedgehogs for about a month and a half now. They either feed by the back door or in our shed late at night. My hubby goes out most nights to look for them and they will be on the aths round the garden eating worms they have grubbed up or in the shed. We’ve got sand on the shed floor so we’ve seen their paw prints. They were using it as a latrine but that seems to have stopped. When they eat and drink they often knock the bowls over. We put out hedgehog food but they much prefer the dry and wet cat food that the stray/abandoned cat has. (we are still trying to get him in the house). There was one big and one small hedgehog, but after over a month of nightly visits they are both big now! It’s great to have wildlife in the garden.

I have to take things further, play around with things, see what happens. I can’t help it. I’m addicted to art. I once saw a spoof warning poster, advising parents to stop their kids learning art… Because it allows freedom and creativity. I wish I could find a copy of it. I will always try to create, I know.

I was looking at Maori designs for whales and Orcas and saw one for a dolphin. I haven’t copied it but this is similar, with my own spin. I was still thinking of Auntysocials challenge to do something with her black and white piano keys. It won’t be possible to do womething like this without cutting and shaping piano keys. But it’s just an idea. I’m not quite sure why I added the waves. I can imagine the dolphin jumping.
Shouldn’t have added the curly lines to the title. It seems to read dolphik! Or dolphink, oh dear!

Penkhull flag is in the semi-final of the @flaginstitute World Cup of flags today till 11am tomorrow. This is part of the vexillological festival to make up for not having many sporting events this year.
Penkhull was in the doomsday book and was then called Pinchetel. Penkhull means ‘Hill hill’ and is a very steep basalt volcanic plug that sits above the majority of Stoke-on-Trent. It is known as the village in the heart of the city.
The flag was only designed recently. The green represents the village green at the heart of Penkhull, with four roads leading up to it. The Cockerel (also know as a rooster or chicken) sits on top of St Thomas’s Church that is in turn on the green.
The flag was created for a competion run by the residents association to raise community spirit. I’m pleased to say that I partly helped to design it.
So if you would like to join in and vote you can find the vote over on twitter. Look for #penkhullflag #WorldSeriesOfFlags
Thank you. X

Auntysocial.wordpress.com is asking for a design for her old piano keys, 88 of them, because she’s dismantled her old upright piano. The keys are black and white (over 100 year old ivory). There are photos on her page of what other people have done. I’ve tried to draw something after failing abysmally on a drawing app that let’s you draw circles but not spirals. Anyway this is wonky but I thought some wall art, a square shaped white panel, and with a spiral or two of keys on it, plus some musical notes painted on it. A bit random…. I don’t know.

Where the sky
looks like sea
and houses float,
where the light is reflected
and you move by boat,
skulling around
and into the air,
following tides
no one knew was there,
washing the sky
with electric blue,
enjoying the world
with a higher view.
A dream like world,
a better place.
A planet in
a different place.
A brand new universe,
To explore in space.
