That pineapples looking sad,
Spotted leaves are wilting
It looks like it’s ripened
I must carve its flesh
Before it’s too late
Sweet yellow and sharp
Shall we have custard or cream?
Or just plain and succulent?
Last time we had one..
Ten years. Fifteen
Really..
Looking forward to it.
But is the pineapple?

My hubby, forty years together and we are both getting old. Various marker pens on cartridge paper. He didn’t keep still or I would have done a better job on it. I’ve bought a few more permanent marker pens. Some are OK, but some seriously smell of something like acetone? I used a silver pen to try and add grey to his hair and reflections/highlights on his face.

It’s looking OK. Bread made from a kit, added a few rolled oats and a bit of bran.
I used oats on the outside once it had proved and been knocked back. When I took it out of the bowl to put into a Pyrex flan dish it had trebled in size. It only shrank slightly when I put it in the dish. The kit I had used contained yeast and had mixed seed in it. It was cooked on gas mark eight (high heat) for twenty five minutes. Now it needs to cool. The loaf needs turning ouf of the flan dish but it’s too hot at the moment. I don’t have any oven gloves so will use a tea towel. Will have a bit later on with bread and cheese if it’s OK?

Ice cold from the fridge, picked half an hour before and rinsed under the cold tap. Fresh from the garden fence (growing through from the neighbours garden), we had a bit of chocolate icecream in the freezer so we added that to the berries. Lots of our fruit plants have been profligate this year. Except for the plum trees? I think the blossom might have got blown off because they are not in a sheltered part of the garden.
The pear tree is almost horizontal, held up with a piece of wood. There are lots of pears set. Maybe I could make a Perry? I could do with a recipe. Mmm getting ideas…

Just wanted a cool meal
Lettuce and radish
Avocado and tomato
Tsatsiki and spring onion
Spiralised cucumber
Egg and celery
Potato Gnocchi
Low calorie Mayo,
Yum!
Just had his tea. Cat food. I opened the back door to put some food out for the stray cat and this was there. My hubby went out and the smaller one is in the shed. I didn’t disturb it to much, just looked out of the back door.
I love having wild animals visiting. Can’t wait to see if we get Hoglets!

Got to try and harvest some more cherries between the thunderstorms.
We got a lot off the lower branches. We need a rake or something to grab some of the other branches. We have almost eaten the other ones we picked. I’m jealous of the birds that can get at the ones on the top branches. It’s great to have fresh fruit grown in your own garden. My friend bought a cherry tree but hers was a sour type. Ours is sweet. It’s worth checking and this tree is self fertile which means it sets fruit without the need of a companion tree.
Happy gardening.

My hubby just opened the back door and started shouting ‘come here quick’, I rushed over, expecting to see the stray cat we feed by the back door. Instead there was a huge 🦔 Hedgehog. It was scoffing the cat food we had put out for the stray! It’s as big as a small cat. It rushed off into the night when it was disturbed. I know we haven’t had many slugs and snails lately despite the wet weather. Now I think I know why! Still a bit of a shock to see it in the middle of a city. As long as it keeps away from roads it should be OK.
