Biro….

Something to do while I try and get over a sore throat. I haven’t done much today. I walked upstairs once, felt dizzy and came back down again. I think the bug I have has got into my inner ears. I’ve had plenty to drink and I’m taking paracetamol.

Have you ever tried spraying biro with hairspray? Sometimes it makes the ink run I used to use the technique many years ago, it might not work these days if the ingredients in the biro ink have changed. I will experiment.

Poppy painting

Nine years since I painted this poppy with a white centre. I think that makes it look fresh and cool. Poppies have paper thin, crinkled petals. They look so delicate. I have lots of yellow, Welsh poppies in the garden, but not as many red ones that seem to need more sunlight. This was an acrylic on canvas and I think it sold quite quickly? But after almost a decade I still love it.

Ill

On the day I’m ill with a sore throat and aches, my hubby has decided to have a clear out of some books and this glass chess set (bought years ago). We don’t use it as we have a small wooden set. This has sat in its box for years. Time to give it a new lease of life. The box was very dusty which as I wiped it over made me cough from the dust! We have over a thousand books and it’s hard to say goodbye to old friends. X

Memory

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was memory. I don’t have a photo of this but it’s stuck in my mind. There was a rock wall and maybe a tree growing up from it, or growing nearby. That is what I see in my minds eye. The tree trunk was very gnarled and each time I walked past I saw a gnarly face.

This is from when I was a child. There was also an avenue of similar trees behind it. But I can’t remember how they were placed. Then there were park railings and houses beyond. Its funny what sticks in the memory. X

Food

Today was a sore throat, tired sort of day, a rummaging in the freezer so I didn’t have to cook properly day. I found a sausage, cranberry and sage crown (wrapped in flaky pastry). Hubby had bought it at Christmas and I hadn’t fancied it then. But with a sore throat, how bad could it be? I cooked it till it was slightly burnt, but it was OK. With boiled new potatoes, carrots and parsnip. It tasted sweet, and slightly sour/bitter. I have to say I wouldn’t have another one, but at least it’s out of the freezer.

Lunar Eclipse, thanks spaceweather.com

Just got an email about this. I don’t think I will be up, and it’s cloudy here…

TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE–TONIGHT: The full Moon is about to pass through the shadow of Earth, reddening the lunar disk for almost an hour and a half. Totality begins at 11:29 pm EDT on May 15th (03:29 UT on May 16th). This eclipse could be a deeper darker red than usual because of lingering exhaust from the Tonga volcano. Sore throat

I don’t think it’s serious. I just have a sore throat, but I haven’t gone out today despite needing shopping and the chance of some entertainment. I just feel a bit hot and tired, but that could be age related (yay hot flushes, not) and it is humid. I went to bed this afternoon and tried to sleep but then hubby decided he wanted a conversation…. Out came grouchy me… Leave me alone me… But now I’m more awake but might go to bed early…

Doodling day

I started the centre of this months ago then lost the sketch book. I found it again last night and decided to finish it. I tried adding different patterns and shapes. It took me a couple of hours last night and a few more this morning. I do like a good doodle. No tablet or mouse in sight, just straightforward drawing with a black ink pen. Of course I can play with it digitally but I don’t want to at the moment, sometimes original is best. X
