Xrays

Xray of hand ap and at an angle.

A pet peeve. I watch quite a few programmes where people have to have xrays. I think the worst thing is when the xray is presented the wrong way up or back to front, or worse still when the image is of a different part of the body!

Sometimes I just laugh, but when it’s a life or death situation I wish the film makers would make a bit more of an effort!

Why do I know this? I did a course years ago. Being an artist helped me identify things that no one else noticed. I could see things like buttons in a stomach or a comb in a pocket…. And other more “unusual” images, ahem…

Walter, found

Recently found on my phone, photo taken a few years ago.

One of my murals from the Leopard Hotel in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, it burnt down a couple of years ago. Portrait of Walter a regular there.. Mural, emulsion on lining paper. I had to paint it a few feet up the wall, the paintings were painted within a frame attached directly to the wall. I just noticed his hands are too small!

Eye wash!

Argh! My cat is on tablets twice a day for heart failure. I mix the tablet with water and use a small syringe to get him to swallow it. I forgot I don’t have a lens on the right side of my glasses. So when I squirted the syringe half went in my eye! I have washed my face and doused my eye with water, then used my antibiotic eye drops… I hope I haven’t done any real harm!

Someone asked me?

Old painting x

How to start a painting working from a blank canvas. I suggested they could start by changing the colour of the canvas. That will give you feel for how the paint goes on. Think about whether you want the canvas upright (portrait) lf on its side (landscape). You could do a gradient of colour or greys so it’s lighter towards the top or one side. Try and think of a simple subject to start. How are your drawing skills and do you want realism or an abstract subject. Most of all – enjoy!

Watching TV, eating salad, sneezing!

What are you doing this evening?

I’m already on antibiotics…

I’m trying to eat healthily, but I had my tea before I saw this prompt, so this is a free photo.

The antibiotics are for an infection in my leg. I didn’t expect to feel rough on them. But now I think I’ve been coming down with a cold (a viral infection) and the antibiotics won’t help with it.

So feeling tired and achy so I have been watching TV this evening instead of going to a meeting I was due at. I didn’t sleep well last night so I’ve been napping a few times over the day. The only trouble is that the sneezing woke me up twice! Atishoo! We all fall down!

Summer ending

Most of my hanging baskets have survived a very dry summer as I watered them every few days. But I made the mistake of thinking the rain that has been falling heavily for the last few days would suffice. And because I have trouble negotiating around the yard I haven’t done any watering! Big mistake. Because I had two hanging baskets hung underneath another two baskets. Usually when I water the top ones the water runs into the bottom ones, but then I also do the lower ones to make sure they are thoroughly wet. The rain just didn’t penetrate and the two lower baskets are now badly wilted. I doubt they will be able to recover as the nights are getting cooler and the growing season is almost over. They have also gone to seed. Drat!

But the photo shows one of the healthy ones…. If only I’d done the watering!

Stuff

Blurry photos of a disco glitter ball, mobile of planets, dusty dream catcher, glass hangings… Not necessarily in that order…

I have collected lots of “stuff” over the years. Most of these are hung to high to reach now for me, so they are dust collectors.

Not having hubby around means I can’t get  things down from high places. Goodness knows what I can do. But at least this shows my eclectic tastes. I’m interested in a lot of things.

If I showed you the rest of my house you’d probably be horrified. But that’s the life of a crazy artist.

Passion flower

At a local garden centre I saw this lovely passion flower. Mine has died off so I will have to plant a new one.

My Parkinsons is playing up this weekend and I haven’t been out. All my limbs are shaking and aching and I’m having to hang on to my phone hard to stop it jiggling all over the place.

I would like to go out and do some gardening, but there have been loads of heavy showers and I don’t feel stable enough on my feet. Tomorrow a lot of things need doing and I hope I feel a bit better by then.

One of my cats

Sometimes called Gussy goo, also Buss puss, my littlest cat has many nicknames varying depending on my mood. She’s a sweet little cat and likes sticking her claws in my leg. She often gets through to the skin so I have to fend her off. She loves to nuzzle me for a few minutes but doesn’t stay for long. She was a rescue cat, one of about 20 that lived with an old lady, so I don’t think she got much attention and so she’s not that bothered to being fussed. She will sleep on the bed with me but usually gets off again after 20 minutes.

Like all my cats she’s black and white with piercing golden green eyes. A resl character.
