Seen today in Stoke on an allotment. I’m not sure if this was someone’s art project. I could imagine it in a parade or floating along on the canal! It appears to be made of plastic cups and trays, one way of recycling them x.
New paintings and regular art updates.

Yellow vase, imagined drawing in Artrage app. My mom used to collect vases made out of Uranium glass. It’s called that because it uses Uranium to colour the glass. It can glow in he dark I think? It’s usually a cloudy greenish yellow. #bandofsketchers prompt was yellow.

We have a lemon tree from the supermarket and after six months the lemon has grown and is turning yellow. There are a few more small lemons on the plant so once we pick this one they may start growing. It’s propped on the lip of the pot so it can catch the sun and get warmed by the radiator when it’s on.
The plant had to be potted on because it was root bound and it has grown really well with glossy green leaves. I like the texture of the lemon and leaves in my photo which I took from below to get a better view and catch the blue sky and dream catcher in the background.

Artrage doodle of an eye and nose, just playing with colour and line thicknesses. I liked the combination of yellow, beige and green and brown. I wanted it to look like a lino cut print. I used different pens to create the image.
A week ago the #bandofsketchers prompt was Peel. Digital drawing of a banana being peeled. I can’t get out to get a new sketchbook so I’m drawing on my mobile with my fingers. Its a bit fuzzy.

Crackers, cheese, butter, banana.
No vegetables, no other colours
No salad, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce?
Not tempting, maybe tasty?
Cheese is salty, crackers are salty.
Not sure if I should eat the banana
Butter is salted.
I’m thirsty!
Give me time
I’ll try and teach him
Meanwhile? Yum?

One of the plants that appears in Spring, this is lesser Celandine. It has mid green shiny leaves and yellow and white daisy like flowers. This plant is one of the things that used to be on a website where people recorded when things appeared in the Spring, like butterflies, moths, flowers, tree blossom for example. It was a citizen science project. I don’t remember what it was called.
Lesser Celandine spreads by little bulbs (bulbils) that can stick to shoes or animals feet. It’s pretty, but if you get it in your garden it can spread like mad. I’m not sure if animals van eat it, it just looks cheery in Spring.

How do i know the water is blue? Surely it’s transparent. But look at the sea. As you go deep into it you can see it stays blue until you go deep when it’s black. Then look at water at sunset. It stays blue even when the sky turns red doesn’t it? And in yellow white sunshine its very blue. Not green, not yellow, not red, not purple – Blue.

I think this is done. It’s a beach and sea scene viewed from above. I decided to put some rocks in the bottom right corner, but do they look OK? This had Bern sitting on my easle since before Christmas and I have only just felt well enough to try and finish it. I hope the person who commissioned it likes it.

Reviewing old photos from a few years ago I came across some pictures of Dahlias. This one of a pompom Dahlia really resonated. I remembered my father used to grow them in the summer when I was a child. He had a whole patch of them, this shape and more shaggy ones. I remember I could see spirals in them. They were all different reds and oranges, whites and magenta and yellows. Striking against the green leaves and stems. They were in a small back garden and next to a pile of soil where we children would play ‘I’m the king of the castle get down you dirty rascak’ not sure how that worked except we competed to be at the top of the pile of soil…. Memories are random and come back infrequently. I just remember the Dahlias and sunshine.
