I can see mice?

It started as another feather post, then someone pointed out it looks like mice. (maybe eating a slice of banana?) I used a straightening tool to make the feather twist round and the layout to mirror it. I’m not sure how many more feather photos I can do before I get bored by the idea…. Or not!

I’ve also noticed that the feathers could look like wings beating up and down. You can see how the photos can be changed by using filters in Instagram.

Tomatoes ripening-at last!

A few tiny tomatoes, some from our plants, most from an allotment we helped on. I think they were brought on by some ripe bananas that give out a gas which helps ripen fruit around them. My hubby says the chemical symbol for the gas is Ethene (previously called Ethylene) CH2=CH2….We have a few apples too. I used a cooking apple yesterday with some cider to make a very tasty apple sauce. I’m going to use the rest of the apples up in a cake.

Easy dessert

Ingredients :

Two croissants,

One Banana

Half a tub of extra thick double cream

Sugar or sweetner to taste.

A few raspberries for decoration.

Method :

Take the two croissants, cut them in half horizontally. Slice a banana in half lengthways. Place one half in each croissant. Sprinkle with a little sugar or sweetner. Dollop the thick cream on top of the banana, then place the top of the croissant back on top. Serve as it is or with a few raspberries on the plate. Tasty and easy.

Serves two.

Youcan substitute whipping cream or squirty cream if you want. X

Trying to make banana cake without all the ingredients.

I give you (please take some).
Home made banana cake with toffees melted on the top.
Ingredients.
Half self raising flour, half plain flour, about 8oz with a bit of yeast. (what I had in the cupboard).
Some granulated sweetener, about a tablespoon full.
4 oz approx of butter
Two eggs
A small mug of milk.
A bit of orange juice.
Two sliced bananas.
Toffees melted on top for the last twenty minutes.

Method
I added the flours together with the yeast, added the sweetener, then added the butter and broke it up until it was crumbly. Then I added the eggs, mixed in milk. It was still a bit dry so I added a bit of orange juice, till it was quite soft. A bit like wet mashed potatoes.
I then chopped the bananas up and mixed them in. I left it for a while to see if it rose (it didn’t!)
Cooked gas mark four for an hour and ten minutes. About forty minutes in I noticed it was rising but split in the top. So I got some toffees we had at Christmas and placed them on top. The mess is where they melted.
Not pretty but tastes OK. Served the first bit with some ice cream while it was hot. Not bad!

Banana

I just made a culinary disaster. I decided to make a milkshake with a mashed up banana and some milk I frothed up.

The milk was frothed in a glass container with a metal mesh on a length of metal and a lid (like a small caffitierre).

The disaster? If you try and mix mashed banana with milk make sure it’s properly smooth, or you end up with a cold lumpy mixture. It tasted OK though.

Nutritional facts, I think I read there are 89 calories per 100 grams. There isn’t as much potassium in them as urban myth says. People with latex allergy can become allergic to bananas. They are related to plantains which are more starchy and can be cooked. There are other species including green and purple bananas.

But is it Art?

sketch-1576072362677

I saw this piece of art on the TV, I’ve drawn it because thereĀ  will be copyright on the image and I just wanted to illustrate it.

I was only half watching the TV so I didn’t get the artists name, I think I heard that it is a banana taped to the wall. I think there were more than one and they were sold for $130,000? Each!

I don’t understand the ethos behind them. I think that it is art, but I feel a bit concerned as well, I’m not sure anyone should pay that amount for something so ephemeral. Do you change the banana when it rots or the tape when it loses its tackyness. Does it have worth because it has only a short lifespan? Can it be compared with the Mona Lisa.

In the same way as the ‘this is not a pipe’ painting was ridiculed in the past, could this be working off the same premise?
