Drawing from April…. Why did I add glitter as the base of this? Then drawing over it in purple and black to include the cupboard and its content. I remember the feeling if the gritty glitter under the felt pens. Rough and making it hard to get straight lines. The teapot is definitely a bit wonky! It was drawn as a challenge with #uskstoke, day six. I like it because it wasn’t too safe. I need to think about style and how things look. This is a favourite although it’s very sketchy.

Several plants and one flower later! The other morning glory plants have buds on them. But the weather is set to be cold and wet from tomorrow, so they might all wilt! Anyway here is a tiny flower, I’m please it’s come out!

Are they? I think they are. Seen by my friend during a walk. They were in a garden along the canal. These were such a bright colour she took a photo of them.
Flowers are wonderful thing, such amazing structures, with colours outside of the visible spectrum that attract insects to pollinate them. They sometimes use the ultraviolet end of the spectrum to show insects where their nectar is. The trouble with flowers like these is that there are so many petals that the insects can’t get at the nectar. The human intervention of breeding flowers could have a detrimental effect on insect life. There are plants that are advertised as bee friendly, but sometimes that’s all it is, an advert. Single flowered plants are probably best.

I found this last night after posting about patterns yesterday. Clearly I have a thing about spirals and cats x.
I wasn’t trying for reality here, I enjoyed using these colours and the heavily patterned surface. This is about three years old.
I might do more of these. It depends if people like something quirky…..Right better get on and do some work.

I saw a face,
I blocked out some of the photo, and added some lines to the result in a sympathetic green colour. The blue mecanopsis flowers form stunning eyes, the concave petals give it depth. The dark purple makes the mouth and upper lips. It’s a almost insect like, perhaps like the head of a dragonfly? I can see antennae on it. It’s something I enjoy doing, playing with images.

This was a drawing experiment a few years ago. It was an ArtRage oils drawing, using colours then mainly the dry marker to subdue the strength of the original brushes. You can use a sliding scale to alter the brush sizes and strength of the metallic colours, so sometimes the colours look shiny and other times matt. It’s worth playing with different tools in apps, it increases your knowledge. I’ve found some apps really difficult to use, especially if I don’t use them very often. But I will modify what I do, and play around with things to see what results I get. I end up with a series of images, then edit out ones I don’t like. Sometimes I keep all of them so I can show how my work progresses.
Cheers x
When the sun set tonight it as like the sky was on fire. A deep purple/blue shading down to maroon, red, orange and then yellow.
I’m not sure I have quite the right colours on my phone camera, they seem slightly more intense, but that’s to do with how the eye accommodates in low light levels.
Whatever the colours the reality was spectacular. Beautiful. Colourful. Awesome. I would have liked to see the horizon but I was going into choir practice and didn’t have the time to drive over the other side of the hill.

When you take a photo of an old window under purple sunsets you can get something of an interesting hue.
Ink turns pink
Sky’s surprise
Window brightened
With sunsets flight.
Glowing purple
Violet hue
Salmon sprinkled
In the blue.
Glint of crimson
Sizzles over
Bleeding sky
Paints walls anew.
I don’t know why but the usual grey clouds you get at sunset (sometimes tinged with pink) came out strikingly purple last night. I have read that there is dust and ash in the stratosphere from a couple of volcanoes which is giving the sky a violet tinge at the moment. Maybe it’s that or maybe its my camera phone. Anyway I will post a couple of these to the cloud appreciation society Facebook page. Maybe they can explain.
