Look out

Look out

See what’s about

Use your eyes

Don’t be surprised

Glasses are good

For seeing the mood

Of someone’s face

At more than a pace!

Sight is the winner

Lighter, and dimmer

Through fire and snow

You can see the glow

With my little eye

Just what do I spy?!

A very silly verse

Which could have been worse!

Abstract flower

Posted on February 2, 2023 Posted in Sketching, UncategorizedTagged Abstract, Art, Drawing, Felt pens, Flowers, Life, outlines, Poem, Poetry, SketchingLeave a comment

Flowers made of light

Colours big and bright

Abstract patterns

Lines shape matters

A rose and stem?

Do you see them?

Pen and ink

That’s how I think!

Outlines and contours

Artistic encounters!

Dry eye

Dry as dust

No tears fall

The end of fuss

Cracked and dull

Sadness ends

Emotions pall

Memories shrink

Till nothing at all

Moistens my eyes

My eyelids won’t fall.

Lights

Posted on January 30, 2023January 30, 2023 Posted in UncategorizedTagged Blank verse, Ceiling, Image, Lampshades, Life, Lights, New Victoria Theatre, Patterns, Photo, Poem, Poetry, Symmetry, TheatreLeave a comment

Fun with lamps.

Duplicated and turned

Hanging from the ceiling

Shining a light

On the crowded lounge

They move in the breeze

Floating in circles

Describing orbits

Random and round

Looking like a drum kit

Hanging up high.

Feathery frost

Posted on January 29, 2023 Posted in UncategorizedTagged Art, Cold, Design, Drawing, Frost, Jack Frost, Painting, Pattern, Poem, PoetryLeave a comment

Feathers in frost,

How crystals grow

Waving and curling

See the cold flow

Other designs

Jack Frost can draw

Painting his marks

They are sublime.

Posing

Sitting on the chair

He doesn’t have a care…

The cat stares

Not on the stairs

His little paws

And gentle claws.

Perched on the edge

He finds a ledge

To sit on

If he can fit on…

Posing

As he’s reposing.

Cat

Not fat

Sat!

Poised

Clouds

I do like a nice cloud

Fluffy and full

Ready to rain

Ponds to fill still,

I like that cumulus

Or maybe a cirrus

Lenticular clouds

Spectacular layers.

Light shines through them

Illuminates your dreams

That silver lining

Will cheer you still.

Levitating cat?

Posted on January 25, 2023 Posted in Cat, UncategorizedTagged Black and white cat, Box, Cat, Chair, Fun, Levitate, Lying down, Photo, Poem, Poetry, Rhyme, Sleep, Tuxedo catLeave a comment

Front paws on a chair

Back legs on a box

Sagging between

Or levitating above.

Comfy you say?

But what if he sleeps.

Will he fall off?

How can he stay.

Stuck on a space

That doesn’t support

While a foot away

A comfy sofa!

Boring tv

Posted on January 22, 2023 Posted in UncategorizedTagged celebrities, Dislikes, goggle box, hate, idols, Poem, Poetry, Programme, Sad, Thinking, TVLeave a comment

I hate game shows

Quiz shows

Ice skating shows.

I dislike celebrities

Making cakes

Making music

diving and dancing

I can’t stand

Pop idol

Big brother

Goggle box.

Am I alone?

I guess hate is wrong

The wrong word

But the TV is not always good

We are drowning in crud.

Tea

Tea for who?

Tea for you

With scones and jam

Or sandwich of ham?

Straight from the pot

It’s nice and hot

A fresh dark brew

Don’t let it stew!

Blue and white china

Nothing can be finer

From Stoke-on-Trent

To a friend, sent

A birthday gift

For them to lift

And then to pour

With milk and more.
