She was rehomed…

A couple of months ago we found a budgie loose in the street. We didn’t know where it had come from but we took it to an emergency vets called Vets Now.

When we took our cat there last week I remembered to ask about the budgie. Despite being mentioned on social media no one came forward to claim her. (I think it’s a she). So it has now been rehomed in an aviary. I just thought I would post the details here incase anyone sees this.

Model boat

When you go to look at model train shows you don’t often see boats or ships. I suppose this might be collecting or delivering freight from the train running alongside the quay.

We went to Weymouth several years ago and saw the metal train tracks embedded in the harbour quay. I guess they would have used it for loading fish and shellfish to take to cities like London. I think there are similar lines in Plymouth. I know they had large passenger ships calling in at Plymouth in the past and they still have a ferry service as does Weymouth. Transport is a fascinating subject.

How can the cat trust me?

Since he came home, I’ve had to give my cat eye drops and antibiotics. Every day he sits a bit further away from me. He is a bit more wary, nervous. It’s not surprising. Yesterday he was checked over by a vet and given another lot of antibiotics. I understand why, he needs them to help him heal. But it doesn’t make it any easier. If he wasn’t such a patient cat I don’t know what I would have done…. X

Dissappearing cat

You know when it’s time to go to the vets… When your cat dissappears!

Cue manic search under cupboards (I was sure he’d gone upstairs), then when that was no good we widened the search outside, our wooded garden, the neighbours, the alleyways, calling, shouting, bellowing… Then another look round the house. I even thought I’d take a cat toy on a string to chuck under cupboards and tempt him out? Then crreeeeaakkk, out bedroom door.. He came out? Where does he hide? Cat space! A quantum space that only cats can squeeze into….? Now he’s sitting in the sun on a box… Vets in thirty minutes. Wish him luck!

Getting things done…

At last!

For a few months I’ve been putting things off. I used to sort things out regularly and efficiently in my old job, but when I left things changed.

I was always at the beck and call of people, sorting out their problems. My mind would work through possibilities and come up with solutions.

When I finished work I tried to get elected as a Councillor. I still wanted to help people and saw it as a way of using my skills. But the electors chose someone else. My political party had lost support. Then I regrouped and started a college course.

But as the months have gone on I have felt more and more overwhelmed. Putting things off to the end of semesters. Leaving the paperwork sitting on my desk. Why? Prevarication…. I wasn’t trusting myself to get things right. A couple of things had gone wrong and I was scared to try again. Would I succeed? Could I cope? Health issues for both me and hubby have increased my stress levels..

Anyway, today I did half the things on my list (about four of them) I’ve got more to do but I feel better about it.

Fingers crossed I can do more tomorrow.

Too many Ads

I just want to switch off!

I’m watching the last day of the Paralympics. It’s been a wonderful display of talent and sporting prowess. My only dislike? Repetitious ad breaks! Yes I know who the sponsors are. I don’t need reminding every five minutes!

Let me put this out there. I’m not in the market to buy a new car, some new technology, or a new TV. I’m not interested in the channels new dramas, and if I did I wouldn’t need to be told over and over again when it’s on, my short and long term memory is fine… Its still 2019 isn’t it?

Joke….

Feeling owlish

Finger drawn owl

Using the digital drawing app on my phone I just did this. There is no chance of it being celtic as its a finger drawing and my arm shakes too much to draw straight or neatly curved lines.

Still it was fun to use the mirrored curves tool (what is it called?) to create this. I liked adding a bit of p

Celtic horses again.

I do love celtic style art, and I love horses too, but sometimes the complicated patterns are mind boggling. Trying to copy them freehand is just so difficult. Perhaps when I drew this I could have done a third as a template and then copied the pattern for the other two thirds? Or using one of the tools that allow you to draw daisy type patterns digitally. Maybe I will try.

Excellent Blog Post from a Bike-rider and Occupational Therapist in a COVID Unit

“COVID cases are on the rise again and I just finished another tour of duty on the COVID units. Most of my patients this week were not vaccinated. I was vaccinated in December and January. While it is true that I am now magnetic, that’s just my personality and I was that way before the […]

Excellent Blog Post from a Bike-rider and Occupational Therapist in a COVID Unit

I saw this on my friend Martha’s blog and wanted to share it because the misinformation and strange ideas about the vaccines are really dangerous. I am fully vaccinated and hope that if you can get it you do get it. I know that it’s not available everywhere but it should be shared worldwide to try and fight the dreadful virus.
