Possible painting

DSC_2622

I have a very complex, photo shopped picture of my hand I did years ago on my mantlepiece. But for my drawing today I changed it to a more colourful pattern and made it slightly more abstract. I’ve seen pendants with two thumbs, I’m not sure of the significance of the symbol, so I will try and find out.

I really need to paint. Get past this feeling of dread and give myself freedom to do things again!

Drawing challenge day 24.

_20200512_193312

Yesterday’s challenge was draw a sofa, so I did, with my two owl bags staring back at me! Also the brown throw, two green, crocheted blankets, a stripy cushion, a cat cushion with polka dots, another multi coloured throw, all trying to hide a very old, scruffy sofa. The one where the cats clawed a hole in the back. The one where I fixed it, by painting the pattern on some old canvas, and then stapling it in place. The one where subsequent cats have shredded the back corner again.

The sofa should be recognised as a historical monument.

Today’s challenge will probably be equally odd.

Old YouTube channel

Ignore the photo. I was just trying to find a simple picture to post to illustrate this.

It’s been several years since I wanted to post something to YouTube. It’s clearly changed a lot, because although I could find my old videos on my mallchris channel, I could not sort out how to post videos to it. My only option was to create a new channel there. It also made me post in my full name. Not something I would have done in the past. Some of my old videos are me singing, which is why I wanted to disguise myself! I’m not bothered any more. They are harmless.

If you want to go and have a look. Be bored by my little train videos! I’ve also got a couple of short films about some of my art….

Bye for now.

Dragon in my sketchbook?

The dragon flew into my sketchpad from my imagination tonight. I was watching a series called Merlin on TV and it just sort of happened. The purple ink pen went a bit splodgy.

The world is still in lockdown. People want to escape but its not safe. So playing with glitter glue, ink pen and felt pens is just taking my mind off it. Then edited it to a negative image to be a bit different.

Haberdashery

_20200508_134801

My little sewing kit. Today’s usk Stoke-on-Trent challenge was to draw something to do with haberdashery.

As I don’t make clothes, have any clothes patterns, or any fabric, I’m afraid this had to do. The material below the kit is a knitted cushion, a cat blanket, and a teatowel.

Without the kit I wouldn’t have had any subject matter to draw. I don’t know who will try and add to the challenge today. Now I’m off out in the sunshine to plant up some begonias.

Playing with photos

IMG_20200508_000311_779

Thanks to a friend I’ve just found another app to play with. It seems relatively easy to use. But as this is my first ever use of it I think I will try and get a bit more used to it before I review it or tell you what it’s called. I have a feeling I might seriously mess something up. Seems much more interactive than previous apps I have used, but that might not be a good thing.

Keys, today’s challenge with #uskstoke

_20200506_170413

Today’s #uskstoke challenge, day 18, keys.

Drew round the keys with a fibre tip ink pen. I then coloured in the different keys and fobs and the magazine and DIY instructions for  my wire fairy. Finally I added some thick black felt pen to the instructions and around the keys.

The keys do look a bit chunky, but overall I think it’s OK?

Gecko

FB_IMG_1555027963954

I drew this at sketchfu probably about ten years ago. I’d drawn the orange and green pattern first, and then added the gecko afterwards. I love the idea of camouflage. I can’t remember if I made the lizard up or if I used an image of one from somewhere. If I did I would have modified the colours.

One problem with sketchfu was the way the colour laid down on the screen. Different drawing apps work differently. With sketchfu what happened was that if you did not have the pens on full opacity you got a slightly fuzzy effect. Imagine if you had an old felt pen. The colour is fading and the nib is a bit frayed. That’s what the effect of the pens on the digital app was like.

I hope you like my dinky little gecko.

Picsart review

Picsart was an app I really liked. I’d used it for a while and you could alter pictures and draw over the top of them if I remember . Now however there are more patterns that you can superimpose over your original art, but it doesn’t seem as interesting.

As you can see from these images I like to mess about with the effects available. On these I used effects to change the colour and hue, distortions, outlining edges and embossing.

This is the original that I drew at ArtRage.

I was trying to get a mosaic effect.

Anyway more later on. Its after 3am!

Here are the permanent pens I’m using for my sketches.

I just thought I’d post a picture because I liked the bright colours. I’ve actually got another challenge I’ve been given to post black and white photos for seven days, so I could alter this…

Of course you can use your photo editor to change the hue… _20200504_004437

Or create a negative image…. _20200504_004321

So what am I saying? If you have a smart phone, it’s fun to play with your phones photo software. You might be surprised what you can create.
