Satsuma

Photo of part of my lunch. I just liked the fruit and peel against the table top pattern. Isn’t it fab that the white lines on the table seem to mirror the segments of the fruit?

Its been a busy day, discussing a mural proposal, then having lunch, then off to a trumpet lesson ( the first for months) I’m learning a part  of the new world symphony. Now I’ve got to get ready to go out for the opening of the three counties open exhibition as I managed to get a painting into it. I’m pleased because it’s chosen from submissions from artists in Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire and is on  at Burslem School of Art, Queen Street, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent for a month. …

So a bit of a boring fruit based blog… Sorry!

He’s only quiet with a book.

Went for lunch with my hubby. He chats away all the time, but as soon as he gets an interesting book he’s away in his own world. This one was about the mafia, he was so enthralled that he didn’t finish his lunch!

The book was from Bread in common, a little cafe that opens on a Friday and is vegetarian. You can pay what you feel for the food. They also sell bread on a seperate counter and have a book exchange where my hubby got the book. It’s called ‘the rise of the mafia’ by Martin Short. If you want to visit its on Hartshill, in Stoke-on-Trent.

We do not see ourselves

We don’t see ourselves as others see us. Mother, father, sister, brother, everybody has an opinion of you, but no one can know what’s in your heart.

Imagine a world of telepathy where everyone can read your mind at will. They can see your triumphs and tragedies from your perspective. But most people’s minds probably don’t have clear concise thoughts. If their mind is anything like mine it can be full of confidence at one minute and then dispair the next. You don’t get a blueprint when you are born of how to think. We all need to cut each other a little slack sometimes.

Rainbow garden

My hubby shouted to tell me he had made a rainbow today. The hose was spraying water and the sunlight was behind us and bright.

In one of the photos there is even a double rainbow.

Rainbow

Coloured with light,

shining with sparkles,

water in flight.

Rainbow

glittering brightly,

wonderful vision

droplets so spritely.

Rainbow

water drops glisten

spectrum of sound

making you listen.

Rainbow

to see your smiling bow

happy to watch

your coloured sparks flow.

Time hopping

Time snuck up on her. She had been waiting for a bus, minding her own business, when.

It was half an hour later. She was still standing by the bus stop but the town hall clock was now striking 7.

She looked at her watch, 6.30? What was happening. Well despite her watch it was too late to get the bus so she started the long trudge up the hill and out of the town.

She was so tired after her walk that she went for a soak in the bath, grabbed a sandwich and went upstairs to bed. She checked the alarm clock, it was half an hour ahead of her watch, so she reset it. She lay her head on her pillow and fell asleep…

Two minutes later it seemed the alarm went off. It must be right as daylight was streaming through the window. She stared at her watch. 10…but was that morning or evening. She looked at the electric clock, 8.30am….what the hell is going on?, she thought.

She felt sick and rang the doctors. As the time arrived for the appointment she hurried up to the surgery. But when she spoke to the receptionist she was told that she was an hour late. She would have to wait until the end of the mornings appointments to see if the doctor had time.

When they finally called her she did not answer. She was sitting there, perfectly still, not moving, not breathing, eyes wide open, staring into space…..

Shumaker-Levy 9

25 years ago  comet called Shumaker-Levy 9 collided with Jupiter and the world watched as 20 cometary fragments hit the giant planet.

Hubble space telescope saw the first large impact, then watched as the fragments continued to collide.

The planet was affected and material from below the cloud layers was thrown up into Jupiter’s upper atmosphere.

Scientists are looking for comets and asteroids that might hit Earth not Jupiter. We are lucky to have the outer gas giants because their gravity can stop some of them getting through to us!

Countries

_20190717_234828

I just decided to look at my stats at WordPress for this year. It’s surprising how many people from so many countries have taken a look at my page. Some of them are only one or two views. I hope people like what I write. I try and write about a broad range of subjects because I’m interested in such a lot of things. I try and write clearly and if I have an explanation for something I will try and include it. I had a good general education but you won’t find me writing about pop music or astrology. I don’t know much about cars or trains, but I will have a go at most things. I do try dabbling in poetry. It seems to help clear my mind. But most of all I’m an artist. I like experimenting with art and some of it turns out OK.

To people following me I want to say thank you. I do try and follow back and although I don’t always have time to look or comment it is good to be part of this community.
