Eyes

I was just talking about drawing glasses and how eyes look behind them and decided to do a sketchy diagram. I am drawing with my finger so the pictures are a bit wobbly….

When you draw the eye behind the glasses, always look to see if the face and eye look bigger or smaller. You can tell if they are long sighted (bigger) or short sighted (smaller). It makes it more realistic if you notice this sort of thing. If the eyes are the same as normal it means the glass is flat in the lens, not curved!

There is a film staring James Stewart called flight of the phoenix. One of the characters wears glasses. But the lenses are flat and the light glints off them like window panes!

Copying Bonnard

Orme art groups winter challenge was to take a numbered square from this Bonnard painting and try and copy it. Then when they are done by group members they are pieced back together as a final collaboration of the group.

I did one using felt pens and permanent markers. This one is done in watercolours. I’m not completely convinced by my painting but I’m not going to do any more to it. X

Painting candidate…

I’m always taking photos, but not all of them feel like they could be turned into a painting. I like this evening sky reflected in the lake, a stretch of ice covering part of it. I’m not sure how the picnic table avoided getting snow underneath so neatly… It must have fallen straight down.. I like the diagonals in this, it adds feeling to it…

This will mean nothing to some of you!

Today’s #30daysketchbookchallenge is the number 7. What could I do? I couldn’t resist doing a quick sketch of the old head judge of Strictly Come Dancing. Len Goodman. His catch phrase was ‘I’ll give it Seven!’

I didn’t have much time to do this so it’s a quick sketch portrait, not forgetting his paddle with the famous 7 on it….

A bit skewiff but fun….

Carborundum

Band of sketchers prompt today hard. Carborundum is a man made creation, it’s exotic, iridescent, rainbow covered spikes are like something from a gothic fairy tale. Carborundum is thought to be a master healer that shines light in all areas of your life and connects to all chakras, purifies mind, body and spirit.’, a crystallography site…(Carborundum, second hardest thing to diamond on the Mo scale)
