Facebook down?

Fed up? You might be. Apparently Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have been down for the last five hours. The link to them has somehow severed. Am I bothered? Not really, I’ve got lots I can do and it’s nice to have a break from social media. I’m one of the older people using it, so while it’s good to chat (and blog) I’m no influencer and I’m not bothered about not being able to shout into the blank abyss. I went back to choir practice after two weeks tonight. I enjoyed it. Reality beats digital!

Still gardening

The garden is still thriving although the evenings are drawing in. It gets dark earlier and stats dark longer. A lot of the flowers are fading but the plants are staying green. The worry is that as it gets colder they will die off, but it is to be expected here in the northern hemisphere. I do love cramming plants into our small yard and I thinks it creates a microclimate that keeps the temperature up and supports the growth. We’ve also had some heavy rain which has perked them up a bit over the last few days.

Limerick

I just completed a fellow bloggers challenge to write a limerick. The word we had to use was Lie. The trick is that you can use the word anywhere in the limerick, you don’t need to use it as a word at the end of a line.

Limericks are five line rhymes, made famous I think by Edward Lear the poet. The format is two longer lines that rhyme at the end… Mine were Joe and Toe today, then two shorter lines. I ended mine with blame and lame. Then a final, fifth line that rhymes with the ends of the first two lines, where I used the word Know.

Sometimes limericks don’t rhyme because the last words look similar but don’t sound similar, you have to know the pronunciation.

Universe versions

Using a photo editor to create texture on today’s #bandofsketchers prompt universe. The texture/style tool in photodirector helps give an overall effect to a drawing, opening up the lines and giving a uniformity to this image. The image was a creative attempt at depicting a past and future universe.

Still want a sculpture

Fox sculpture.

I still want a sculpture in our garden like this but the artist has not been in touch. I wonder if something has happened to him? Oh well, people get busy. I will try again and see if we can have it done.

A good friend came round earlier today and helped with our garden. It’s getting very overgrown and neither me or my hubby can manage it anymore. The whole thing needs cutting back and pruning. Unfortunately the wisteria was a casualty as it has grown into the ivy that has got onto the roof of the extension so it needs clearing. Then you might be able to see a sculpture!

Universe

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Universe. So I did this doodle. Crystal shapes that represent ancient ideas of the crystal spheres, moons in different phases. A solar system, a sun, a tardis, a wormhole a saturn type planet… Also galaxies colliding and other space stuff.

Black fine liner pen and black felt pens. I had fun doing this.

Substitutions

I’m still struggling so a friend offered to come and pick me up and we could go shopping.

But hubby just told me off for troubling other people. He still didn’t get what I wanted he says he fu(£%ING hates shopping. I had given him a long list earlier but he came back with twenty bananas instead of a pork pie. We discussed why and I suggested he tick things off as he got them. Half an hour later I gave him a list with four things on. He went out and managed to get two of them but didn’t tick them off. He thinks oatibix are porridge and pizzas are quiche! At least he got me some decaff. He’d be good working at a supermarket because he explained they were substitutions! Basically he can’t cope with walking round the shops he gets overwhelmed and wants to get back out and home. I can see him wandering off when we go together. He can’t concentrate!
