Plant

Used sketcher free to draw a flower, it’s a very flat technique, the brushes are quite interesting including ribbons, pixels, a chrome pen and an eraser. Because I’m still shaking (problem with my arm) I’m using it to experiment with wavy lines. I just used a simple pallette, green, dark grey, pink, yellow and chrome.

The idea started as some leaves but then I decided to add a single flower. The plants leaves are drawn to look wrinkly and interesting.

Ideas for dragon wings

Dragonfly, gossamer and transparent. Rainbow hued like oil on water.

Scaly, leathery, patterned scales cover the wings and flutter as the wind blows over them.

Batwinged, stretched between long thin bones. Good for gliding and flitting silently.

Feathered, similar to Pegasus wings, bright white or golden. Shaped like an eagles wings.

Butterfly. So delicate, barely able to hold a dragon aloft. They are fine and delicate. Made of magical stuff.

Finally kite shaped. Stretched over a frame. Bright colours and even streamers of material. Light and strong.

Broken glasses

Note to self, don’t leave your glasses on the side of the armchair, my hubby sat on them. The little screw that holds the frame together has disappeared. I can’t see it anywhere. I looked at taking the screw out of an old pair, but my small screwdriver is too big. So I’ve sellotaped the lens in place but that’s unwrapping as it gets warm. Why do things have to go wrong!

Dragon heads

Thinking about dragons and how they look? For a mythical beast there are lots of ‘species’. Ancient Chinese and Japanese, medieval dragons battled by saints, dragons in stories by authors like Anne McCaffrey, films like ‘ how to train your dragon’, with a dragon with a catlike head (toothless).

Then, logically, the wings wouldn’t really get it off the ground. But a mythical beast would be magical and easily able to fly. How about having wings like a dragonfly? Gossamer and transparent? And does the dragon have a scaled body or could it have fur?

Lots to think about!

Cat dragon

Why can’t a dragon be a bit like a cat? Add some wings and a longer tail for balance. I’m going to write a story for college and the main character is some style of dragon. I want it to be friendly and beautiful. I think I would add scales. Maybe this will be the final idea. I will have to think about it.

Teddy bear and Teapot Cafe.

Memory of a visit in 2017 to a cafe in Prestatyn, Wales. It popped up on my Facebook page today. I remember the place, really interesting, there were lots of houseplants in the window.

Sadly I don’t know if it’s still open after 18 months of covid. I hope places like this have survived, but there have been so many problems that we have all suffered. I will try and call in next time we are over there.

He’s a lot better

My cat that got trapped and didn’t come home for eight days. He’s had treatment because he was covered in a tarry substance, he’d licked it off a bit which burnt his mouth and he’d injured his eye and had ulcers in it.

After a few weeks going backwards and forwards to the vets he’s a lot better. His eye is getting better and his mouth is fine. He needs to grow his fur back where it was shaved off to remove the tar. He has to stay in a while longer to prevent sunlight burning his eye.

So I’m happy that he is recovering and can have a good life again. X
