You’ve got to sketch them
Black and white cats
They gang up on you
And beg to be represented.
Make us handsome and beautiful
They miaow at me.
So I scribble a sketch.
Thank you they say.
That’ll do!
New paintings and regular art updates.

Taking a petal from my flower photos earlier. I decided to use my sketchbook app to try and create a floral pattern. The symmetry tool was used to create a nine sectioned flower. Then I coloured it in with symmetry and non symmetry. Finally I put this through a scenery filter in my Photodirector app. Not AI but definitely digital.

Imagined view, I think I need to have a look at some real clouds. I’m not sure if I’m going to call this finished. Acrylic on canvas. I just wanted to paint something calm and peaceful so I created this sketch view X

A really old painting I did from when we visited a BCB exhibition at Spode I think. I really liked this watercolour so I thought I’d share it. This was my selection for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt “pots”.

One of my old digital drawings I did a few years ago on a website called sketchfu that has sadly closed. Each week we were set a challenge to draw from a photo. I got quite good at it even though there were only a few tools on the site. I’d like to know what pottery the set was made at. I think it looks quite neat.
List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.

I know that apples fall down off trees.
I know cats are devious creatures!
I know bats don’t always live in belfry.
I know cheese can be put in a curry.
I know time seems to move forwards.
I know there are no Elephants on Mars.
I know Wales is different to whales.
I know that salt does not taste like sugar.
I know I like to watch the sky at night.
I know I don’t know about a lot of things!
I wanted to create a list that wasn’t contentious, that could almost be a poem, that I didn’t have to type out my working out, and I hope people will find humerous.

Trying to catch up… A quick sketch of a sunflower in Artrage app. #bandofsketchers prompt flowers…
It’s been a long time since I’ve done a band of sketchers prompt. I’ve decided to resume so I at least post a bit of art here. I’ve been feeling down for too long. I don’t know if this will help, but I’ve got to try.

Had a ‘retinal migraine’ last night, an unnerving experience. I was reading subtitles on TV when they started to go blurry, then the edge of my vision started to sparkle and look jagged, hard to explain, so I’ve tried to draw it. Apparently according to my optician it’s not unusual, I should have covered one eye then the other. If it happens in both it’s an effect in my brain. It cleared up after 20 mins. (if just in one eye, then it may be a problem in one of my eyes).

I just read a post on Facebook about a rainbow and it bought back memories from the 1980s.
I was outside on a sunny day when dark clouds piled up as a shower passed by. I noticed a rainbow forming and unbelievably the end came down just up the street from where I was, about fifty yards away. I walked forward and it moved away. I tried jogging, but it kept the same distance away, then gradually faded as the sunlight was blocked by clouds behind me. I really think this is a real memory, not imagined…

Doodle using the Sketchbook app on my phone. I used a symmetry tool to draw it. And various brushes to colour it in. I’ve always loved owls and I like the quirky shapes. There are so many types of owls from little owls to eagle owls, barn, snowy, long eared owls. Wonderful creatures.
