Slimy algae
On the lock wall
Only revealed
As the water flows
Out of the lock
Through large wooden gates
Made to be moved
When you use a windlass
To raise the sluice gate.
A way of travelling
Up and down hill
In a boat or a barge
Through summer fields.
You’ve got to sketch them
Black and white cats
They gang up on you
And beg to be represented.
Make us handsome and beautiful
They miaow at me.
So I scribble a sketch.
Thank you they say.
That’ll do!
The cat is back
Happy and fat
Sleeping on my chair
I guess that’s fair
So here’s a simple verse
That things had been worse
Now they are good
The cat? He’s my bud!
What are your future travel plans?
It doesn’t have to be hot
It doesn’t have to be sandy.
I’d like there to be a pier
That is still working this year.
Maybe a promenade
Brass band playing a tango
Or Waltzers spinning and twirling
Horses galloping on the Carousel.
That would suit me very well..
Gulls stealing chips
Waves rolling in
My head in a spin
From the loud wind blowing…
And of course a stick of rock
Peppermint flavoured
The resorts name written
right through it.
Florets unfurl
The hydrangea bursts
A firework flower
Bursting into life!
He’s still not home
I’ve been out and looked
Fed up and sad
I feel so bad.
Where has he gone?
I’ve called and looked
Rang up the vets
I’m going mad
Where has he gone
He’s gone astray
My heart will break
Please bring him back
I hope and pray
The nights are getting longer
The days slightly shorter
It’s almost bedtime
But I’m hot
My heart aches, my mind too
So I’ll sit and watch TV a bit
No sensible thoughts in my mind
Just watching the nights decline
Into a slow dawn.
Maybe the sun will shine bright
In the morning after this night.
I don’t know
Time goes slow
When you’re alone
With the pain of loss.
Look at you with your golden eyes
Staring at me, whiskers engaged,
Ready to pounce, or yawn, or sneeze
You just do what you please.
Golden eyes, not green or yellow
But gloriously strong in colour
You know what you want
As you stare at me
Food and cuddles
Clearly!
What bothers you and why?
The world seems upside down inside out
I’m bothered by lots of things.. about
Broken tiles
Corrupt files
Parking woes
A split hose
Not enough bees
Leaves leaving trees
Too hot one day
Too cold the next day
Inconvenient thoughts
Complicated sports
Not enough food
Having a low mood.
They all bother me
I guess that’s how I see
The world
Unfurled.

I know I don’t know about a lot of things!
I wanted to create a list that wasn’t contentious, that could almost be a poem, that I didn’t have to type out my working out, and I hope people will find humerous.
