Blurry back yard

Blousy and blurry

Mad back yard. The heavy rain has pepped up all the plants. You have to avoid the baskets. I want to put some washing on the line but it’s clouded over again. I’m tired and hot. A friend came round and after a cup of tea helped cut back part of a large bush that had layered itself (spread outwards with side shoots). Of course I stayed inside for most of the time, but decided to say hi after a rest and ended up helping a bit by cutting off small twigs. By the time I came back in I was exhausted and tired out, hence the shaking. But looking at this really cheered me up. A real plethora and pleasure of flora!

Shingles

No,  not the sort that you find on a beach.  The one caused by having chickenpox. It can come back as shingles in later life…..

Hubby is due his vaccination against it which is great,  but I’ve had an aching lower back for a week. It hurt even more last night,  each time I tried to get comfortable  I got shooting pains in my back and leg. My hubby had noticed a rash of blistery spots in a line on my lower back, just on one side.  Suddenly it occurred to me this might be shingles. I looked it up and found an image that seemed similar to what I have. Luckily I got a doctors appointment and they decided it was a mild case so I’ve got some tablets that should calm it down. They used to say if your shingles met in the middle you would be very ill (not sure how bad or how they could), I’m thankful it’s not too bad.

Small photo, incase you are eating your tea. Not my shingles. An Internet view.

Bird limerick

Bird on a post it note

On paper it seems to float.

Bright yellow and white

What a pretty sight..

Drawn for fun, gets my vote!

You can probably tell, I haven’t been very active today. Bit ill, not feeling well. I found this bird collage on an old sketchbook from 2021. I decided to share it with a little limerick. I had lots to do but haven’t been out. My hubby did some shopping and I’m laying low. If I feel better later I will blog again.

Ill

On the day I’m ill with a sore throat and aches, my hubby has decided to have a clear out of some books and this glass chess set (bought years ago). We don’t use it as we have a small wooden set. This has sat in its box for years. Time to give it a new lease of life. The box was very dusty which as I wiped it over made me cough from the dust! We have over a thousand books and it’s hard to say goodbye to old friends. X

I’m bored

Fed up with being ill. Not Covid, but a cold/ chest infection. But I’m getting bored. I feel trapped but that might be a good thing. Perhaps I’m getting better?

Sundays used to be boring when I was a child. Nowhere was open, shops shut, nothing really to visit. If you ran out of milk you could not buy any. Memory of a different world. Time changes things. Then I was waiting for fruit salad with evaporated milk with bread and butter for tea. Watching my mom and dad doing the washing in a boiler in the kitchen that had a mangle on the top and an old spin dryer to get most of the water out. While they did that we played in the garden. Unless the weather was bad. Then I would read a book, or draw. Maybe it wasn’t all that boring?

Don’t underestimate the common cold.

Atishoo! Atishoo! We all fall down?!

Three negative lateral flow tests, but my nose is blocked and I keep sneezing. I’ve started with a tickly cough… Feeling hot and cold and shivering.. You forget that there are other illnesses out there that can get you. A cold I think, not as bad as flu, but I feel rough. I want to curl up like a hedgehog and fall asleep for the rest of the winter.

Seriously though, I’m not sharing this with anyone. I’m going to carry on wearing a mask when I finally get out again. And make sure you get all your jabs, Covid and flu. Take care, stay well!

Clothes

Well actually clothes horse with clothes on. At 3am this morning I was feeling rough, sore throat and achy so I decided to get up and draw. This was sketched in tippex and metallic pens on black paper. Photograph was late at night under electric light. I could take another photo but don’t feel well enough.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was clothes.

Fed up

I’m sorry to say I’m not well. I seem to be getting one thing after another wrong with me. My back and neck are aching. I’m worried I might have shingles but trying to get in the doctors is proving impossible. Everything is so busy, the NHS is getting overwhelmed and so many people are struggling to get treatment. So I’m drinking plenty of fluids and taking pain killers. I’m truly fed up. I have things I need to do and this means I have to keep putting them off.
