Numpty?

There are certain politicians that deserve a word to describe them. And my favourite at the moment is ‘Numpty’

The Oxford English Dictionary has launched a search to find the first recorded use in English of the word ‘numpty‘, which means a foolish or stupid person. Since the mid-1980s, numpty has been used as a mild term of abuse in Britain.14 Jun 2015.

I like it because it’s not a swear word, but I can take a great big breath and shout ‘you great big NUMPTY !’ and put real heart and soul into it!

Artrage oils sketch

Another art package I was using a lot last year is ArtRage oils, a free drawing app where the pens in it look like oil paint that can be adjusted to look more or less metallic. The difference with it is the ‘painterly’ effect is more pronounced and more difficult to control. There is not really the precision of other apps but it makes up for it with robust colours. There is a paid for version has more pens and tools, so gives you greater variations and the ability to go to town on interesting images.

Paper cutting

I always like to make paper cut snowflakes at Christmas. I did a few a couple of years ago. I always fold my paper into six so that you get a six sided shape. To do this I fold the paper in half, then fold about a third over at an angle, so you have the same amount on either side, then fold the last third over the other two. You end up with a pointed end, and the other end has different shaped areas. Then you need to cut off the excess so that you have a hexagonal shape. Cut patterns through the foldes sides to make a lace like pattern, unfold. (The paper might stick together and rip) Be careful. Flatten the paper out and put up on windows or hang of shelves to decorate. Fun for children but make sure scissors are safe and have rounded ends.

splodges…

A few weeks ago I was happier,

painting splodges for a college project,

letting colour flow

and wrap itself into my mind

warping patterns

playing with inking rollers

freedom.

Then I was sick

nothing serious,

not covid

not anything really

just pain

continuing.

I have an appointment tomorrow

to check my pain

sort it out

Make it go away…

please.

then I shall sleep,

not wake hourly

gripped by a twisted cramp.

please.

Two boys

On the settee… Indoor and outdoor cats are tolerating each other. These are the two boys, the girl cat sleeps upstairs. There is a bit of trouble over sleeping spots. They seem to like a spot and take it, then the other one comes along and snuggles there instead.

One thing I am trying is stroking their cheeks. Apparently the spray you can buy with pheromones to calm cats down is based on the scent they give off from the scent glands in their cheeks. So I guessed if you stroke one cats cheek, then stroke the other one it might help. It’s certainly helped them get used to each other..

Hmm. Almost bedtime, will I have to get u to let outdoor boy out later? We will see….

Drawing Lesson

I was just watching an on line lecture about using the new photoshop system and it reminded me of this drawing I did back in August. It was a quick sketch of my desk and drawing tablet. We were disussing about doing loose drawings and I realised thats what this is. Apparently I should be building up layers so I can change and alter them as I draw. I need to learn more… Over ten years of using photoshop and I never got into it! Thats the thing if you dont see information and you try aand learn things just by trial and error!
