A friend took a photo of my coat of arms design at the Leopard Hotel in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The building burned down a few months ago and I have been trying to find good images of my murals. They were burnt in the fire and the photos are all I have of them.
Blue and white digital drawing using the sketch app on my phone that has a kaleidoscope effect, then with added texture using photo director. Reminds me of a ceramic bowl with a repeat surface pattern using transfer printing. The pattern also looks like dancers or iceskaters. It would also look good on fabrics, like a silk scarf.
Kaleidoscope or Mandala using a sketch app on my phone, I think as I draw I try and create an interesting and satisfying pattern. You don’t know what you will end up with when you start, but I think it does help relax you. The app allows you to draw symmetrical patterns by repeating one line over and over again round a circle. I love playing with apps.
Hold four felt pens together and scribble curves and circles. Fill in the gaps you create with other colours. Another abstract experiment. Mark making is such fun. Like a swirling rainbow, shards of colour spread across the page.
I was up late last night trying to get my college project finished. At about 2.30am I pressed the submit button and a PDF file was sent to the University. I previously sent in my written report in March. That was for 30% of the marks, this is for 70%. No more work due. Waiting for the results now.
What’s next? I’m hoping to get some more painting done and maybe get a few commissions for illustrations? I think I’ve proved I have an interesting style of working. Anyway I’ll find something. It’s got me through two whole years of Covid.
OK so it’s self published and it’s one copy. I want to find out if I can get it properly published. But it arrived this morning two days early. It wasn’t going to get here till Friday. The roads must have been quiet! It was like Christmas! I kissed it. I cried. I’m so happy with it! It cost way too much, but it backs up all my university work so I’m happy 😊.
Multiple bird images drawn ib black ink fine line pen. I tried to fit the shapes together. Clearly I can’t compete with Escher and his wonderful tessellations, but it was fun to try and think about how the shapes fit together. I looked at patterns as well as shapes, so each bird is an individual. They all seem to swirl round each other.
I had text message yesterday that my dragon book would arrive today. It hasn’t turned up yet! But because my computer is upstairs I can’t go and do work and be near the front door. Hubby has gone to bed so I’m a bit stuck and frustrated that I can’t get on. This image was digitally manipulated in Photodirector then put through the layout app on my phone.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was magic. Since I have been working on a project for college based on dragons I decided to draw possibly my last one for a while. I think they are full of magic! Felt pen and black ink fine line pen.
