Shall I colour my hair purple?
Shall I cover the grey?
Replace the silver with a violet hue,
Like old ladies
Have their hair coloured blue?
Doodle an idea,
Just to see
But the drawing
Looks nothing like me!

One moon, high above the clouds. Seen on a walk, popping up like a bubble from the lips of a cloud.
It’s hard to capture the moon on my phone. The definition of the photo is not good, and having to zoom in makes it more blurred. I think I avoided too much camera shake.

It’s not often you see the moon in the sky in daylight. But I like this photo. Simple view and with the clouds it makes it more interesting.

Trees and road markings,
black asphalt,
branches reach out and hold hands,
a pylon of arching twigs.
Shimmering blue sky,
with added silver,
dreaming of spring days.
If I look closely?
I see slitted pupils,
in great round eyes,
the hat metamorphoses
into a black beak?
Gold, black and blue,
brightly hued,
your cages of twigs,
snare birds who
nest in warm romance.

A duck and a coot. If this was a race, the coot is winning. The twig looks like the finishing line for a rowing race. The duck is a Mallard drake, I don’t know if he’s preening or asleep? I love the ripples on the water. My phone camera has reacted to the bright light and has reduced the exposure time so it appears darker. You can move the position of your camera to affect this. If you look at an area with less bright light then the exposure would open up again. But I like the strong contrast in this image and the depth of colour. It’s difficult to see the details on the birds because they are in deep shadow.

A couple of observational drawings from the last couple of days. Both using coloured pencils but the one with black was drawn with a little black ink roller you use to blot out addresses, then colour added on top.
Ive used the ink roller a few times. By tipping it on its edge I’m able to make rough thin marks, and varied pressure means I can change the tone slightly.

Turning a tree into a bug… Photograph of a tree last week, I decided to mirror it in four sections. I deliberately centered on the blue in the background which I also think gives a feeling of a stained glass window.

Red sky in the morning,
Shepherds warning?
See the sky
Roses in your eye.
Now its dawn
New day is born..
Pink to blue
Purple hues too
Twigs and branches
Spring approaches.
Sun or rain
Brings green again….
Back to sleep
In bed I’ll keep
Until full sun
And sunrise is done…

Quick watercolour and ink pen sketch of the sunset on my walk today. It took me 3. 5 hours to walk 6.73 miles, but that was including stops and visits to shops. I’m haven’t blogged much today.. Too tired…

Observational drawing of the day, my eye, used a calligraphy pen and felt pens. The patterned thing is my little hand mirror.

Reflected in the canal, the water is a gorgeous blue. Dolphin boats with its little dolphin symbol on it has been there for years. Its looking a bit tired now. Life is not being kind to it, and with lockdown I don’t even know if it’s open. As well as boat hire they have an air gun shooting range and archery, but we’ve never been in there, just walked past on the other side of the canal….
