Time to drink?
Drink from a bowl? No,
Drink from a cup? No
Drink from a dish? No
The bath, it has to be the bath.
She sits and waits,
For me to put the plug in
Fill the bath slightly,
So she can drink…
New paintings and regular art updates.

I got to display my necklaces at the craft fair this weekend in a purpose built glass covered coffee table. It meant that people got to see them more clearly. What I do want is a display stand.
I’m pleased to say I sold a couple of them. I’m getting some smaller ones done soon. X
Six hours painting today, including about four standing on a set of steps. As a short and a bit wobbly person I have to be careful not to step backwards and fall over.
I am really tired now, I’ve got to go back and finish it off and varnish it next week. I might get a rest tomorrow, I’ll see how I feel.

Warm wine with herbs and sugar. I don’t know what the herbs are as I usually buy a bottle of one that already has things in it. Heat it up in a pan and drink, possibly with mince pies or Christmas cake…
It’s the time of year for indulgence if you can afford it. But many can’t. I’ve visited people in my job who had potatoes and beans for Christmas lunch.
I think about sharing at Christmas, about a bit more kindness, about a lot less austerity. The human race does not like sharing, when greed is good poverty follows. People need to think more about others. I am odd I know…..
looking at this photo turned on its side reminds me of an animal with external gills. With tentacles, with tiny eyes. It might be a landscape in reality, but it feels like something much more alien.
I imagine it floating above the land, syphoning up water from the surface of the sea. Eyes staring with disdain at a terrified population. Or perhaps visiting in friendship and hope.
When I was a child I helped with the washing up. I would spend ages stacking plates and cups and knives and forks into ancient or future landscapes. Maybe that’s why I do this to my photos?

My stats are plummeting,
I’ve sunk so low,
Life just got busy
My words don’t flow.
My stats have shrunk
My work rate slowed,
I have no time,
To carry this load.
I have to paint,
To carry and fetch,
Real life impinges
I feel a wretch.
Perhaps one say soon
I will catch up and say.
Today I have time,
To rest, write and play.

We (the Earth) is heading towards a stream of bits of rock from a comet called 3200 Phaethon. This is what causes the annual Geminid meteor shower. It is expect to peak on December the 13th and 14th. The night before is the full Moon. But the Geminids are bright and can have brilliant fireballs during the shower so they may be visible even through the moonlight. The main problem in the UK is that its often too cloudy to see things like meteor showers. I’ve often stood outside and looked for meteors, but seen nothing.on one occasion long ago we drove off into the night to see if we could get out from underneath the cloud. We drove from Stoke to Buxton and Macclesfield, but to no avail. Apparently they had a good show in Liverpool that night. But we missed it.
Meteor showers can appear at all times of the day, but are best viewed at night. As the Eath turns different bits of it can be pointing into the comet debris at different times of day. Generally they are more visible after local midnight, but one part of the world may see nothing and another part several meteors a minute. It can also be dependent on the width or narrowness of the dust stream.
Happy viewing, wrap up warm!

Oof, my indoor cat has got more friendly recently, to be honest I think he’s trying to keep warm as I’m trying to use the heating less. When you have a warm jumper and a cat who needs heating? I’ve had a busy few days and I’m doing stuff again tomorrow so it’s nice to ‘warm’ rather than chill! I’m going out in a bit so he can’t stay but I will give him a cuddle when I come back. His sister likes a bit of a love but she won’t settle. She follows me round the house though.
This is what I want for our stray outside, a place to rest and be safe.

Finished off my take on an Easter island head this week by hollowing it out and adding texture to the surface. It now needs to dry out so it can be fired. If the clay is wet the water in it will expand and may cause the pottery to blow up. It may not be an accurate representation of these wonderful statues, but I hope it is not disrespectful to model it?
We have started to meet on Thursday mornings at Etruria rather than in the evenings, this means we are there at the warehouse on the Trent and Mersey canal by summit lock 40. From 10am to 12 noon.
* note, we are meeting on an ad hoc basis at the moment dependant on the weather.
