New paintings and regular art updates.
They both moved in with us as strays, but they are seperated by quite a few years. Both have a splodgy nose although one has golden eyes and the other yellow.
Both were and are characters (outdoor cat, top and and incomer, bottom). I don’t share my cats names online. But the incomer died when he was young. I was devastated. Cats can be long lived and our oldest was twenty one when she passed away.
I have lots of photos of them but I don’t want to bore you!

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was food so I chose to draw some fruit on a calico pattern Burleigh plate. As I’m not feeling like cooking this was the easiest option….
Today’s #30daysketchbookchallenge, Day 24 was something to sit on. I wasn’t feeling well so I tried drawing a favourite sofa from the 1960’s. Drawn in the Sketch app, then adjusted in photodirector before working on it again in Sketch (second image)….
My world was spinning like a planes propeller, or a turning bike wheel, this morning. If I opened my eyes the room was going round and round the vertical at about two revolutions a second. Nausea swept over me and I felt hot and sweaty.
I don’t know if it was something I ate, or if it was vertigo, but I have had a sore throat for days so I think it’s something to do with that. The last time I had it I ended up in Accident and Emergency for the afternoon.
When I needed to use the bathroom my hubby had to lead me because I had to keep my eyes closed, I’ve never felt so strange as this. Closing my eyes helped. I won’t say how ill it made me.
Now after a few hours sleep I feel slightly better. The spin cycle seems to have subsided!
After the #30daysketchbookchallenge yesterday and #MendNotTrend last week I decided to draw a few abstract patterns based on the prompts. They are all based on circles, two in colour and one black and white. They were all drawn in the Sketch app I use. I didn’t use any filters for these just lines and the flood fill option (plain and rainbow fills).
I remember the long hot drive to Robin Hoods Bay a few summers ago. It was so hot in the car that I had the window open. I had no air conditioning and the temperature was rising steadily. My right arm was being burnt by the morning sun as we crept our way slowly North and East through Yorkshire. Its a large English County and full of cities, towns and villages, but also farmland and moors.
We visited a cottage in Robin Hoods Bay. It was upside down, with the bedrooms on the ground and basement floors, and the living room upstairs. The photo is my painting of the view from the living room. We spent a lovely few days visiting landmarks and beaches, but at the end I became very tired and aching, I thought I had bad sunburn… It turned out I had shingles. It was a memorable trip, but not necessarily for the right reasons!

Be warned! The village is very steep with a single lane access road from the roundabout at the top of the hill down to the concrete slped area at the bottom next to the pub… what is that called? Slipway… There is an old chapel sitting back on the right hand side, and there was a shop selling hats as well as the grocers shop and newsagents. Lots of touristy places where you could buy hippy things like geodes and scarves. Its really a delightful place to visit if you can climb up and down a 30?degree slope! When the sun is shining it is a perfect sight. There are other, larger, towns nearby, Whitby and Scarborough, all on the North Yorkshire coast. But to me this was the most picturesque I have visited, which is why I had to paint it!
Two seperate apps, Sketcher free and Autodesk. I don’t often draw with these, they have different tools and I’m not really up to speed with them. But you never learn if you don’t practice. Also if I don’t use my tablet it gets clogged up with updates….so here they are, a couple of practice pieces,
She still plays, she’s got a little fatter, I think it’s lockdown ‘spread’, I probably give the cats too many treats. When you are in a lot of the time and they ask for food, it’s easy to be lax about portion sizes. Plus the house is warm and so are the cats so they are not expending much energy. Still all three get on and seem happy. X
