My hubby’s feet, a small step, black fine liner and acrylic paint wash. Not very exciting for Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt. Trying to work out the details of the straps on his sandals was tricky.

For the first time in months I went to sing with the Loud Mouth Women choir. Covid fears and a pulled calf muscle has stopped me. I had to admit I’ve been scared of mixing. But I went, and I felt a bit better in myself afterwards. You don’t realise how depressed you are getting until you force yourself to do things, but I did it. It’s cheered me up. It was the last choir practice this year and we sang some Christmas songs. Glad I went.
This took a long, long time. I can still paint but shaking isn’t helping. If I put things on the easle it’s a bit better, but sometimes I have to hold the painting to add details, then if I try and paint my left arm and hand shakes and the canvas wobbles. So I have to redo things. I wish I wasn’t getting old. Painting means such a lot to me. Then typing, the phone wobbles side to side as I stab at the keyboard. Thank goodness for predictive text! Anyway I hope this little dogs owner loves this painting, she’s been really patient. X
Shall I buy this cute little stone dragon? Not at THAT price! Do you think I’m made of money? What about the coal it would cost to feed it? And its asleep now but what happens when it wakes up, sneezes, and burns my shoes or the bottom of my coat? I mean he’s really CUTE, don’t you just want to go ahhhh or oooo? I know I do. And what about (whispers) toileting? Can you get a dragon litter tray? Plastic would not do, too caustic……would need stainless steel. Then there’s the vets… innoculations, how do they inject through a stone hide? Something to think about.. I mean, are dragons prone to scale beetle, carbon cough, wing itch? Your guess is as good as mine… What do they drink? water- or lamp oil? I think I will go for a Gargoyle instead. Stick it on the roof and it will be happy drinking rain water and watching birds fly by…
I’m going to shrink a lot of my images to thumbnail size and derlete the old photos. It’s going to take some time, but my phone memory and WordPress memories keep getting fuller. I don’t like doing it because I want people to see my art, but I’m hoping if you look on the images on a tablet and a computer you will be able to see them OK?
I hope the blogs will still be acceptable. I am also deleting a few older images. I’m on 97.7% full media at the moment. It’s going to take ages to try and reduce my file sizes, hopefully the words don’t take up too much space.

A sleepless night and suddenly I had a brainwave for this one! It’s fragile, full of fuzzing thoughts and it can’t settle down. Collage with offcuts, parcel tape, nail varnish, black ink and felt pens. Sundays prompt was brain/mind for #bandofsketchers
I really don’t know what was going on. The inspiration? A little plastic bag with pink zigzag stripes and a book on human biology I got when I was at school!
I like doing miniature paintings on small canvases. It’s hard to get small details though as I am still shaking from whatever is affecting my left arm and shoulder. There is an artist who lives near Birmingham who creates miniature sculptures in the eye of a needle and on the heads of pins. He creates them using an eyelash attached at 90° to a fine brush or rod. He works between heart beats and holds his breath. He works at night so traffic doesn’t disturb him. Now that is skill! He works through a microscope and his work has to be viewed through one.

Another one of my digital drawings that I did on the Sketchfu website (closed a few years ago). This was Frodo and his sword Sting. I’m re-reading the Lord of the Rings and they have just come through Moria where Gandalf falls into an abyss with the Balrog. Reading a book is different to seeing a film, the story is visualised by you, not by a digital animator. Frodo looks like your imagined hobbit, not someone acting him. That said I did like this actor, Elijah Wood, but I also liked Ian Holm who played him in the BBC radio series.
