You sang, you flew
Perched and pecked
Hopped in the grass
Stood on the branch
You slept soundly
Woke at dawn
Gave voice to beauty
Slept again.
What befell you?
I do not know
But fall you did
Farewell to you.
New paintings and regular art updates.

We just saw this butterfly on the buddlea in our garden. It was feeding on the nectar from the flowers of the bush I think.
It seems appropriate to have a name with wood in it as our garden is very woody now. I guess we will have to try and cut things back a bit because it’s very overgrown, but I’m glad we have made room for nature, and by planting trees we are helping reduce our carbon footprint.

He came in, soaking wet, plonked himself down without even a cat lick, and went to sleep. This cats not bothered, he just wants a rest after being out all day. I think he’s been mooching, playing in the rain with my other two cats, like a little pride of lions. Sometimes they chase each other up and down the trees. Getting excited and playing at who can climb the highest. Onto shed and house roofs. Then they come in, eat and sleep.

Digital filtered image of the moon over the horizon. I’m trying to make it look like a screen print. I might make a painting of this. The colours and texture appeal to me.

Sunset haze in Cornwall
Moon flys above
Silver glow over pink and purple
Fields are green and lush
Tides grow as moon and sun pull
Gravity from one direction
Water bulges
Seas rise and then subside.

When the milk bottles on my kitchen counter started to multiply I asked hubby to put them out for the milkman. He didn’t, so I asked again tonight (our house is directly on the street so if we put them out on a non delivery night they get knocked or kicked over). This time he did it, but not before I took this photo from above and processed it through the photodirector app on my phone. I think it makes an interesting picture. Daily chores can be fun!

Dumped

Don’t do it!
Dispose of correctly
Care for the world
It doesn’t need our rubbish
Encompassing the world
With our rubber and plastic
Destroying nature
With our excrement.

Me with my coast painting at the three counties open. It’s got a red dot ( not on the photo) because it’s sold. I have to day I felt privileged to be amongst such talented artists. There were around 100 pieces of art and maybe 300 people? It was very hot, humid and crowded. We stayed till the speeches were over but then I had to get out.. I felt overwhelmed and claustrophobic. I was ready to run! At one stage a wasp came in the window and I almost knocked a man over trying to dance out of its way! Pirouetting with a glass of wine in one hand and flapping uselessly with the other. I wish I’d worn a mask. Nice to see old friends but after just over an hour we escaped…
Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was Ice..
Ice was a challenge! I could have drawn our freezer that keeps freezing up and is very frosty but I decided to try and re-imagine frost ‘feathers’ on my windscreen last winter. No reference, from memory. I tried with and without black fine liner pen.

I’ve got some of my glass pendants for sale at Etruria Industrial Museum cafe. I also have some cards and prints. It feels good to have work accepted by them, I don’t have many outlets available in the area. I need to find some more places and try my hand at craft fairs again, but I want to work towards more fine art.
I like doing craft fairs but if you don’t sell enough and you have to provide your own table, or even gazebo, it’s hard to make enough to cover the costs of the fees, plus I am not capable of putting up a gazebo on my own… Possibly a Sun Umbrella, but that might not be suitable!
