Walking home, Stoke-on-Trent, about 3.15pm this afternoon. The low sun barred by dark clouds. It didn’t rain but the bright sunshine really shone out behind the clouds. The lamp posts give a sense of scale. You can see the shadow of the cloud on the right cast at an angle so it gives an indication of where the sun is. It never emerged as I walked as the clouds were really slow moving.
In amongst the fern leaves. My hubby created this glass star at a workshop a couple of years ago. When the sun is setting behind it the red glow of sunset sometimes lights it up. It reminds me of gum drops caught in jelly. The colours make me happy.
I think we shall book another workshop. I have an idea of us making some new pieces.

Summer arrives
It’s been a few days since I had a good walk, I haven’t been well. Today its sunny and warm and I’m fed up of feeling trapped in the house. A short walk, a flat walk, a slow walk, but a walk.
A few thousand steps will help me and give me some relaxation….

After walking five miles this afternoon my hubby suggested we took a short walk this evening as it was still warm and the sun was bright even though it was going down. We walked past an old school with wavy railings. It is in the process of being knocked down. Then as my hubby walked away from me I stopped and caught a shot of him striding into the sunset (by then my feet were hurting). But that was another two miles so I did just over seven in total. Its the furthest I have walked for a couple of months. I must do more!
I keep coming back to this tree as it spreads its branches over the view from Penkhull. I have watched it in leaf, with dying leaves, bare and now in bud. It makes me realise how fast a year can pass. The same with gardening, the seasons and plants come and go. And I’m a year older and no wiser….
Narrow boat in the bottom of the canal lock as the water started to fill it up. Seen on a walk today.
I couldn’t stop to see the lock fill up fully as my friend had walked further on and I don’t like walking along the canal on my own.
It was quite warm today for a change and the breeze had dropped a bit. We carried on along and I half expected the narrow boat to catch up with us but we got to the next lock and it was still well behind us.
Great to feel sunshine on my face properly for the first time this year. I even took my coat off!
I was hoping for a new layer of snow instead we got mist. There is still a bit of lying snow but the roads and pavements are clearer. Might go for a walk later….
Apart from that WordPress has reverted to block editor again…. Clearly they don’t like us old fuddy duddies that prefer the classic version. Grr….
